CES Weekly Update
September 27th, 2024
October 16, 2026
Dear CES Families and Community,
It is always a joy to see our school community come together, and this week was filled with wonderful moments for that!
Thank you to everyone who joined us for our Open House yesterday evening! As my first Open House as Principal, it was an absolute delight to welcome so many students, families, and community members into our building. The school spirit throughout the building was contagious. A special thank you goes out to everyone who visited and supported our Scholastic Book Fair! It was fantastic to see so many young readers excited about picking out new books to take home.
Today was our annual Fire Safety Day! We are so grateful to our local emergency responders for taking time to visit CES and teach our students essential fire safety routines, prevention strategies, and emergency preparedness. Hands-on learning experiences like this empower our students to feel safe and knowledgeable both at school and at home.
I also had the privilege today of bringing another group of our 6th-grade students over to the Cambridge Community Center to help serve the Cambridge Community Lunch. They represented CES with wonderful respect and kindness.
I hope you all enjoy a relaxing and wonderful weekend!
Sincerely,
Kim Lesny
Parking Lot Traffic & Safety Reminders
Please review these important traffic reminders from our CES safety lead, Mr. Ben:
Follow Parking Lot Arrows: Always follow the directional arrows marked in the parking lot to maintain a safe, predictable traffic flow.
No Quick U-Turns: Please refrain from making quick or sudden U-turns near the E-parking area.
Keep Children on the Sidewalk: For everyone's safety, students must remain on the sidewalk and stay out of active vehicle pick-up lines until safely loading.
Watch Your Speed: Please drive slowly and exercise caution at all times while on school property.
Wait for Buses to Clear: Children and pedestrians should not go around to the back of the school building until all school buses have departed.
Thank you for your cooperation, patience, and help in keeping all our CES students and staff safe every day!

Feeling the Winter Blues? You’re Not Alone.
Winter can feel heavy - shorter days, colder weather, less time outside, and changes in routine can affect mood and energy. It’s normal to notice shifts in how you’re feeling during this time of year.
Some signs to watch for include:
- Feeling more tired than usual
- Losing interest in things you usually enjoy
- Feeling down, irritable, or disconnected
- Sleeping more (or less) than usual
- Wanting to isolate or withdraw from others
If these feelings last more than a couple of weeks, or start to interfere with school, friendships, or daily life, it’s important to reach out. Talking with a trusted adult, school counselor, coach, or friend can make a real difference.
Small things can help too - staying connected, getting outside when possible, keeping a routine, and doing something kind for yourself or someone else. You don’t have to handle it alone.
