St. Thomas School
Mid-Week Memo: September 22, 2026
Our Mission
St. Thomas School serves the parishes of St. Therese of Lisieux, Holy Spirit, and St. Matthew.
In partnership with the family, we are dedicated to nurturing the personal development of the whole child. Our mission is to instill Catholic values, foster self-discipline, and promote academic excellence in the spirit of a caring, affirming community.
From the Principal's Desk...
Dear St. Thomas families,
We had a fantastic experience last week with Bishop Ruggieri and the school principals. We received many compliments on the joy and warmth of our students and school. A couple principals mentioned how nice and quiet it was in our building while students were learning. We had many helpers and polite responses whenever students were asked questions. Way to go, St. Thomas!
This past weekend we also improved our playground experience by building the pavilion. We are so grateful to the Lindsey family, the Welch family, Mr. Daniels, Mr. & Mrs. Madigan, and Dan Roy of Dan Roy Construction, who worked all day Saturday (and a portion of Sunday) to make this possible! We also extend our most sincere appreciation to Helen Bergeron, who donated the structure in memory of her parents, along with Matt Landry, who poured the concrete foundation. Once the pavilion has been officially inspected, the space will be utilized as flex seating for outdoor learning and will provide a source of shade for our students on the playground. What an incredible addition to our campus! We are extremely grateful! (See pictures on our Facebook page!)
Flu Shot Clinic Mrs. Hackett will again hold a flu shot clinic at school on Wednesday, October 7after Mass. Forms will be coming home if you would like your child(ren) to receive their flu shot at school.
Circle of Grace In the next month, your child will take part in the Circle of Grace lessons. Please see the attached letter for more information.
Change in Carline Procedures Beginning Monday, September 21, we implemented a new procedure for our morning and afternoon car line. All caregivers dropping off or picking up PreK students use the lane closest to the school building. We are confident that this change will create a safer arrival and dismissal process while also improving traffic flow and efficiency for families. PreK students will be able to walk alongside the building, providing a safer path into and out of school. Thank you for your understanding and cooperation as we continue to prioritize the safety and well-being of our students while maintaining an efficient car line experience.
Art Opportunity The Cathedral in Portland is hosting an arts conference, The Aesthetic of Ascent, and children and youth are invited to display their artwork, meet guest artists, and engage with conference attendees.
Students may participate in one of two ways:
As a class project led by a teacher (parents must still register each child individually), or
As an individual family project completed at home with parental assistance.
