Innovative School Design Updates
Have you heard about our outdoor learning and garden space? It was one of our biggest prototypes last year, involving students across multiple grade levels. As we head into spring, even more classes will be planting in their garden boxes and using the space for hands-on outdoor learning experiences.
Do you have a green thumb or an interest in gardening? We’d love to start a Family Garden Crew to help support this growing work. If you're interested, send me an email at dvictor@sanjuan.edu — we’d love to have you join usELD and Cultural Festival Update
ELPAC testing is 100% complete! The students worked hard on their Listening, Reading, Writing, and Speaking tests and deserve a nice Spring Break!
ELD students will be returning to their regularly scheduled group times when we return from break.
ELAC: Our final meeting will be moved from May 8th to May 1st due to the Cultural Festival being scheduled for May 8th.
Cultural Festival:
SAVE THE DATE! MAY 8TH, 5:30-7:00 P.M.
We have many fun activities planned for our Woodside families. Come learn about different cultures and celebrate the diversity of our community!
We will have some entertainment (Taikko drummers and hopefully more). If you are a part of a group, or you know of any singers, dancers, or other cultural entertainment, please let us know.
Ana Julia, grandmother of the Sandoval family, will be preparing freshly made Pupusas, Tamales, Tacos, and Aguas Frescas for sale at a very reasonable price.
We will also have other foods and treats to sample for free and some snacks will be for sale.

Earth Day is April 22nd!
🌎 Earth Day – A Time to Celebrate and Protect Our Planet!
Did you know Earth Day has been celebrated every year on April 22 since 1970? It all started when people across the United States wanted to bring attention to how important it is to take care of our environment — the air we breathe, the water we drink, and the land we live on.
Earth Day was created by a U.S. senator named Gaylord Nelson, and the first celebration brought together over 20 million people to raise awareness about pollution and protecting nature. Today, over 1 billion people in more than 190 countries take part in Earth Day activities!
Earth Day reminds us that every small action counts when it comes to helping the Earth. Whether you're picking up trash, planting trees, recycling, or saving energy, you're making a difference.
This year's Earth Day theme is: “Planet vs. Plastics” — a reminder of how important it is to reduce the use of plastic and protect wildlife and oceans.
Let’s all do our part to keep Earth clean, healthy, and beautiful — not just on Earth Day, but every day!

CAASPP Notification
Each spring, students participate in the California Assessment of Student Performance and Progress (CAASPP). The computer-based tests measure what your child knows and can do.
To learn more about the CAASPP system, go to the California Department of Education Parent
Guides to Understanding webpage at https://www.cde.ca.gov/ta/tg/ca/parentguidetounderstand.asp
You can become familiar with the testing format and the different types of test questions by looking at the practice or training tests at:
http://www.caaspp.org/practice-and-training/index.html

8:10-10AM, May 8-9 Math Performance Test (PT)
