Lutherville Lab Report
What's gone down & what's coming up at the leopards' lair.
April 1st, 2022
Even with an early dismissal today, we had a very full week here at Lutherville! In addition to continuing our efforts to become strong learners and caring friends, students had special opportunities to be introduced to possible future careers today and learn about some famous women for Women's History Month!
I want to extend a "Ramadan Mubarak" to our families who celebrate this month. Our staff is aware that students may be fasting this month and may be up late celebrating, but I want to encourage families to contact teachers if there are any questions or concerns.
This week I am grateful for many opportunities to collaborate with the goal of continuing our efforts to make Lutherville the best school we can be. Mrs. Hart and I met with parents throughout the week, an internal team of staff met as well, and on Tuesday we hosted leaders from the Department of Special Education in the morning and Dr. Michael Zarchin, BCPS Chief of Schools, in the afternoon. Dr. Zarchin, particularly, applauded our schools warm and welcoming climate and the first-rate teaching and learning in the first-grade classrooms we visited.
One of our internal meetings was around attendance and supporting families. Out of that meeting, I want to remind families to please send in notes providing reasons when students are absent. These notes can be sent in to the classroom teacher -- email is fine! Thank you in advance.
It is only through a committed and collaborative team that we're able to continue that pursuit, and we're grateful to everyone who contributes.
There will be no Lab Report the next two Fridays due to spring break, which begins at the end of the day April 8th. We're back to school on April 19th and the Lab Report will be back on April 22nd.

Presentations
College and Career Day Speakers!
A professor from Morgan speaks to 4th graders
A firefighter speaks with Kindergarteners
An animal trainer presents to 2nd graders
Not only were students exposed to careers and possibilities, but they also practiced AVID note-taking strategies as they listened for key information about the speaker's career.
Cafeteria Pins Coming Home
Meals are still free to all students through the remainder of the school year. The use of pins helps to ensure accountability for the food service program and that we receive accurate State and Federal funds.
Please help your child memorize their pin if they get school lunch. Thank you!
