Central High School
News for Students and Families: Homecoming Edition
A Strong Start to the School Year!
We want to thank all of our students and families for a positive and successful start to the school year! Your energy, enthusiasm, and support have helped set the tone for a great year ahead at Central High School.
As we move into Homecoming Week, we’re excited to celebrate our Knight pride together. We hope to see everyone at the Homecoming football game on Friday night—let’s fill the stands with black and gold!
A quick reminder: attendance matters. Every day in school is an opportunity to learn, grow, and stay connected. Our goal is for every student to attend school every day. If a student is having difficulty coming to school, we want to help. Our community specialists, social workers, and school counselors are here to support, so please contact the school if a student is experiencing social, emotional, or other barriers to attendance.
In this newsletter, you’ll also find information about how parents can serve as Parent Ambassadors and how students and families can join our School Improvement Team—two wonderful ways to get involved and make a difference in our school community. As always, if you have a question, comment, or concern, please contact the school.
Once a Knight, Always a Knight! 🖤💛
Kind regards,

Knights making a difference
A huge thank you to our incredible students for organizing and running a successful blood drive! Thanks to their hard work and dedication, 32 pints of blood were donated—surpassing our goal of 28 pints. Each pint has the potential to save up to three lives, making this achievement truly life-changing. We are so proud of our Student Council and JROTC for leading this important effort and demonstrating what it means to be a Knight—committed, compassionate, and community-minded.
Once a Knight, Always a Knight!
Central Is Looking for a Parent Ambassador
The FACE Office is reintroducing the Parent Ambassador Program to strengthen school–family connections and uplift parent voices. Each school is asked to refer one Parent Ambassador, who will receive training, support, and a $1,500 stipend for their service. Referrals must be completed by Thursday, October 9.
Parent Ambassador Role & Commitment
Parent Ambassadors commit 5–10 hours per week to:
- Represent the school at events (open houses, parent nights, fundraisers)
- Partner with PTO/PAC and staff on family engagement
- Support families with enrollment and transitions
- Participate in professional development, community events, and district conversations
- Share school highlights and updates with families and the community
Central needs students and families on the School Improvement Team
We invite students and parents to join Central High School’s School Improvement Team (SIT)—a collaborative group dedicated to strengthening our school community and ensuring success for every Knight. The SIT helps guide our goals in academics, attendance, and family engagement, providing valuable input on how we can continue to grow and improve. If you’re interested in joining, please complete the form below, Your voice matters—together, we can make a difference!
Central Cares
Central Cares is our mission to help our students and families. One way we do that is by running a food pantry at Central. Students and families may access the food pantry on school days by contacting the main office and asking for Ms. Hernandez or Ms. Walker.
