Music
Greetings from Music! I don’t know about you, but to me it feels like school just started back AND like it’s been going on for months at the same time! I hope everyone is staying safe (and dry) during this crazy time of year.
I am so happy to see everyone, including a bunch of brand-new faces, and get started learning some new and exciting music. This year we will continue with our curriculum called Quaver that both the students and I are having fun exploring.
In addition to having access to Quaver, I have also been updating modules on Canvas so that families can have a better idea of what musical concepts their students are learning. From Classlink you can access both Quaver and Canvas, and Canvas is where I will continue to post what we are currently diving into.
So far, most classes have participated in learning about The Quaver Five and reinforcing the Canes Code. We’ve also all started a module on Beat/Steady Beat, with a really fun Beethoven extension. Pretty soon we will be talking about different types of voices (ie: whisper, talk, shout, and sing), and learning which one is appropriate when.
Save the date! Our first performance of the year will take place October 8th and feature our 4th and 5th grade students. More information to come out about that soon!
I’m incredibly proud of how hard each student is working. We really are Haynesfield strong! As always, please feel free to email me anytime at deelm@btcs.org
