Deer Hill Need to Knows

First Day of School Need to Knows: Tuesday is the first day of school, and we’re so excited to see you. Here are some final need to knows that will help ensure a smooth start to the year. Additionally, here is our last newsletter which was shared on August 1.

Doors open at Deer Hill at 9:05 each morning. Bus riders, walkers, and bikers enter through the front doors. All car drop offs must enter through the back loop. On the first day we will have all staff on deck to ensure students make a smooth transition into school and are able to find their new classrooms. Dismissal is at 3:25. Thank you for reviewing additional details about arrivals and dismissals in our handbook (linked above) and for ensuring your child knows your family's arrival and dismissal plans.
If you are planning to drop off or pick up by car, please review our traffic pattern and procedures. Things move quickly once our doors open at 9:05 and again when we start dismissal — thank you for your patience.
We continue to offer free breakfast and lunch options (along with a la carte items for purchase through MySchoolBucks accounts). Any student who wishes to have breakfast should go straight to the cafeteria upon arrival at 9:05.
All students are asked to bring a snack each day. Thank you for packing a snack for your child from the approved snack list.

Open House on Tuesday, September 9: Deer Hill's Open House is EARLY this year, and we're excited to see parents and caregivers! Please read the flyer above in addition to these need to knows:

This is an event for parents and caregivers; no students please.
Open House will take place from 6:00-7:30.
Teachers are looking forward to greeting you in their classrooms and may have “to-dos” for you to complete such as a note to your student or conference sign-ups. Prior to Open House, teachers will individually share a timeframe when they will be introducing themselves and welcoming everyone to the classroom. These will be staggered to allow for families with multiple children.
No worries if you can’t make it! A slide presentation with details about classroom routines and curriculum will be emailed to all families on Monday in advance of Open House.
Please plan to visit our specialists’ classrooms, too -- they’d love to meet you and share their learning spaces! You’ll receive a checklist to help you navigate throughout the building.
Thank you for remembering that Open House is not an appropriate time for lengthy conversations or parent conferences. Parent conferences will take place soon and can always be scheduled if a question or concern arises.

Confidential Health Form: Thank you to ALL Deer Hill families for completing this year's Confidential Health Form. You may return it either by emailing Nurse Bulman (cbulman@cohassetk12.org) a pdf copy (no photos please) or by printing it out and returning a hard copy to school. We require this form for all students.
