Our final Peachjar flyer distribution of the 2025-26 school year will be on Friday, May 29. We will reopen our Peachjar portal for submissions and distribution approximately two weeks into the next school year. End of Year Website Reminders
With the end of the school year quickly approaching and summer planning on the horizon for many, we would like to remind school sites and District departments to keep school/department websites updated and relevant. Our websites are often the first tool new, returning and prospective families use when searching for information about their students' schools. Regular maintenance should include:
Adding important dates to the calendar, including graduation/ceremony information, picture day details and other end of year need-to-knows.
Keep 3 current and relevant news stories up at all times.
Go through other pages on our school/department website to make sure links work, documents are current and information is accurate.
If you have any questions, or if your site/department needs any additional website training, please reach out to communications@djusd.net.

MARK YOUR CALENDARS: District-Wide Professional Development- August 20, 2026!
On August 20, we are excited to welcome the National Equity Project (NEP) to lead our professional development day, Conditions and Routines for High Functioning Collaborative Teams. The workshop offers essential knowledge, tools, and resources for setting the conditions for effective collaboration that centers student learning, especially those currently outside of our school/classroom Sphere of Success. Deepening collaborative practices to build increased skill and application with UDL and Mitigating Bias can be enhanced greatly through high functioning collaborative teams focused on student learning results and experiences.
Please hold the date and take this very brief survey to indicate your plans for August 20, 2026. Please note that many staff named childcare as a barrier to attending in years past. This year, DJUSD’s S.P.A.R.K. program and staff will be providing childcare on one site to TK-6th grade children of staff if needed; please indicate your interest using the survey above.
Elementary
Elementary Summer School
DJUSD will once again hold Power Up! this summer, an inclusive summer school program for students in grades TK-6, serving students who need intensive reading support, and who qualify for summer programming through the Special Education department or our Multilingual department. Each summer, Power Up! serves hundreds of students based on determined academic needs and is an invitation-only program. This year, Power Up! will be held at Willett Elementary School from June 22-July 30, with no classes held on Fridays. SPARK will also run their afternoon/evening programming alongside Power Up!
Summer Multilingual Programming
This summer, DJUSD is excited to offer engaging academic enrichment opportunities for multilingual students in grades 4–9 designed to strengthen language, literacy, critical thinking, and STEM skills through hands-on learning experiences. Programs include the Newcomer Academy for students new to U.S. schools, a Journalism Class where students will develop reading, writing, speaking, and research skills while creating a student newspaper, and the AVID STEM Academy, which provides interactive science and STEM investigations that promote problem-solving and collaboration.

Multilingual
Summative and Alternate Summative ELPAC
The Summative and Alternate Summative ELPAC testing window will close on May 31. We have already started receiving preliminary scores, and the results are very encouraging as many of our multilingual learners are demonstrating strong growth toward English language proficiency.
Thank you to our multilingual team for coordinating and administering assessments across the district, and to all educators who support students every day in their English language development journey. Your collective efforts continue to make a meaningful difference for our students and families.
Language Support for Multilingual Families
As the end of the school year approaches, we know many family events and celebrations are coming up across the district. The Language Justice and Family Partnership Coordinators are available to support staff in ensuring multilingual families have meaningful linguistic access to all events.
To request interpretation support, please complete the 2025–26 Interpreter Request Form. Due to high demand, requests should be submitted at least five business days in advance. Please note that vendors may charge fees for changes or cancellations made with fewer than 72 hours notice.

Gearing up for Annual Registration - Correct Medical Insurance Info
In order for our district to participate in the Children and Youth Behavioral Health Initiative (CYBHI) fee schedule program, which is a collaboration between multiple CA State departments to expand access to school-based mental and behavioral health services, we are required to have accurate student health insurance information. Families will be asked for their student's health insurance information during our fall annual registration process. The questions in our parent portal will ask for the medical insurance carrier, policy holder, medical insurance identification number, and optional group number. Here are examples of medical insurance cards. Please have your medical ID card available when completing your student annual registration so that you may provide accurate medical insurance information. If you have any questions about this, please contact Jennifer Mullin, Manager of Student Support Services at jmullin@djusd.net. For more information about CYBHI, please review our website.
Classroom Celebrations – Food Reminder
As we approach the end of the school year, we find many reasons to celebrate. Please avoid food celebrations. Every school site has a significant number of students with severe food allergies, dietary restrictions, and health plans related to food. For the safety of our students, teachers and staff should NOT provide students with sugar and/or treats, including savory treats. Please find creative ways, other than food, to celebrate with students, such as: classroom craft or game, dance party, show-and-tell, extra recess, or pajama/hat day.
Enrollment Services Continue at DJUSD
Enrollment will continue to be processed at the district office during the summer, Monday through Friday 8am-4pm. Any new families are directed (via the site’s answering machine and website) to Online Pre-Enrollment and registration at the District Office. All families can contact the district office customer service desk for questions on enrollment or email enrollment@djusd.net.
Health Alert - Measles Is Spreading in California
Measles is a highly contagious, vaccine-preventable disease. Prompt response to symptoms is critical to limiting the spread of measles and protecting our school community.
Monitor for Symptoms:
High fever (may reach more than 104°F) and at least one of the “3 Cs”: cough, coryza (runny nose), or conjunctivitis (red eyes)
A blotchy rash that begins on the face/head and spreads downward (typically 3–5 days after fever onset)
If Symptoms Develop:
Masks are recommended for all respiratory illnesses, including measles. Well-fitting N95 respirators provide the best protection.
Stay home and avoid public settings, including school
Contact your healthcare provider immediately for guidance before visiting a clinic or hospital to prevent further spread
Classroom Recommendations:
School health offices are monitoring for symptoms and immunization status.
Maintain hand-washing routines with students
Use district-provided air purifiers
Send students with symptoms of respiratory illness to the health office for evaluation
The measles, mumps, and rubella (MMR) vaccine is proven effective, with only 3% of fully vaccinated individuals (2 doses) experiencing breakthrough infection. Review your immunization records and contact your healthcare provider promptly if you are unsure of your status.

Elementary School Sites: Updated Chromebook Procedures
As we wrap up the 2025–26 school year, we are implementing an updated Chromebook policy for all elementary students. Beginning this year, all elementary student Chromebooks and chargers will remain in classrooms at the end of the year to be checked in and reassigned for future classroom use. This change aligns all elementary grade levels under the same device procedures, and current 6th grade students will receive a new Chromebook assignment in 7th grade. Classrooms without Chromebook carts will receive one next school year; in the meantime, devices should be securely stored in labeled bins or boxes in an accessible location for summer district check-in.

Maintenance and Operations
Need Summer Maintenance Support? Let Us Know Early!
Do you have maintenance requests for the summer months? If so, please submit them as soon as possible so our team can plan ahead and prioritize work accordingly.
To help ensure projects are completed in a timely manner, please avoid waiting until the last day of school or your final day in the office to submit requests. Early submissions help us better coordinate summer work and support your site needs. Thank you.
Nutrition
Summer School Food Service
Student Nutrition Services is diligently preparing for our Summer School food service needs. SNS will continue to provide free breakfast and lunch to all DJSUD Students participating in our academic summer school programs. Meals will be provided on participating campuses each school day, during normal service times, to enrolled students only.
SNS Welcomes Two New Additions to the Fleet!
Student Nutrition Services (SNS) is excited to introduce the newest members of the food service family—FS1 and FS2, our two new 2025 Isuzu NRR refrigerated delivery trucks! Purchased through the Kitchen Infrastructure and Training Grant, these vehicles will replace our aging fleet and help modernize transportation for SNS.
Equipped with updated safety features like back-up cameras and ABS brakes, the new trucks will support safer, more reliable meal delivery across DJUSD schools. SNS would also like to extend a special thank you to Project Manager Marliu Contreras, whose efforts were instrumental in navigating the complex purchasing process and bringing this project to life.
Custodial
Help Us Get Campuses Summer-Ready!
As the school year comes to a close, the Custodial Department kindly asks staff to remove personal belongings from campuses to support summer deep cleaning efforts. This includes the following:
Any personal appliances (coffee makers, microwaves, mini fridges, etc.) and any pets if they have not been removed already.
Unless impractical to do, personal appliances need to be emptied of all contents, unplugged, and the doors left open. The custodial department is not responsible for cleaning any personal belongings left behind.
Please note the following (CALIFORNIA FIRE CODE CHAPTER 8 [CCR, TITLE 19, DIVISION 1]): “It is a violation of local fire code to store and or house furniture and items in a school that are not appropriately fire rated.”
We would like the staff to clear their desktops and workstations so our custodial staff can clean the surfaces and move items around to perform their deep cleaning procedures.
The Custodial department will not be held responsible for any personal items left on campus and we will not be liable for personal items that are missing or damaged. We advise staff to please take your personal items home if they are valuable to you.
Personnel Services
Thank you to all of our staff for another great year! It was especially heartwarming to celebrate our retirees in May. A few reminders as the year wraps up:
Hats Off to Our Retirees!
This year, DJUSD proudly celebrates 24 retirees across our Classified and Certificated teams, honoring the incredible dedication, care, and countless contributions they have made to our students, schools, and community over the years.
We were thrilled to recognize and celebrate these outstanding staff members at our Annual End of Year Celebration on May 14, where colleagues gathered to reflect, share memories, and wish our retirees all the best in their next chapter. Thank you for the lasting impact you have made on DJUSD—your work has touched lives and helped shape our community in meaningful ways. Congratulations and happy retirement!
Excessive Vacation Hours??
For the classifications of employees who accrue vacation hours, please remember you can only “roll over” 176 hours as of July 1, 2026. Make a plan for June to use excessive hours. Otherwise, those hours will be paid out after July 1, 2026.
Assignment Changes
Any leave of absence requests or other assignment changes for 26-27 school year should be in through the appropriate channels and forms prior to the close of the school year. Unsure about the status of a requested change? Reach out to your site supervisor first and then to Personnel Services.
Retirees and Resignations
Thank you for your service to DJUSD. Please be sure to return keys to your site supervisor. Express benefit forms will be processed after the end of the year for our STRS and PERS members who are retiring. All classified and certificated employees have a 6 month window where they cannot work in the District. After your time period, if you are interested in subbing, please let us know!
