ATTENTION : Current 10th grade Panthers

Calling Plano East Panthers, We hope everyone will plan on attending the Panther Preview on October 30, 2023, from 6:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. This is an opportunity for parents and students to learn about academic course offerings at Plano East Senior High School. This event will be held in building B1 on the Plano East Campus. While on campus, you will be able to explore numerous course offerings and visit with our excellent teachers. You will be able to purchase spirit wear as you visit the different booster clubs and PTSA.

In addition to learning about the academic course offerings at Plano East, you will have the opportunity to attend the Collin College dual credit meeting. This will take place in the auditorium from 6:30-7:15 and will provide you with all the necessary information needed to consider registering for dual credit classes for the 2023-24 school year.

A course selection meeting will begin at 7:30 immediately following the dual credit meeting. It will touch on the graduation requirements needed in PISD, information about advanced-level courses, and the procedure for selecting courses.

During the week of the Panther preview, we will send a special message from Mr. Jones in the form of a video for you to watch. We hope you will be able to join us for this informative event.

Students Must Wear ID Badges Students Must Wear ID Badges

Dear McMillen Student and Family,

You are receiving this message to notify you that your student arrived on campus without their school issued ID badge, as required by the Plano ISD dress code policy. Your student received a replacement ID badge; the cost for each replacement ID badge is $5.00. Students may pay for their replacement ID badges in the library on Fridays between 8:20 am and the end of the lunch period at 1:16 pm. Any fees not paid for by the end of the month will be added to the student's Rycor account. Unpaid fees on a student account will result in the inability to register for Plano ISD activities and/or view student schedules.

Please remind your student to ALWAYS wear their school issued ID badge.

Any students with unpaid fees will not be able to purchase a ticket to Homecoming this fall. In addition, they will not be able to attend the event.

Click here to review the initial information originally sent on 8/11/2023.

We appreciate your assistance.

Respectfully,

McMillen High School

AVID News AVID News

AVID Tutors Needed

AVID Speakers Needed

Every year in AVID one of our most impacting components of the program is having guest speakers share about their profession. McMillen AVID students are always thinking about college majors, and they love exposure to as many as possible. That's where guest speakers help the most. Whether you own a business, are in the medical profession, the world of transportation, hospitality, engineering, law, human relations, trade professions…we would love to schedule you to speak to our students. They are always interested and have an abundance of questions. If you would be willing to come share your profession with us, or if you know someone who would like to come be a guest speaker in our AVID classes, please contact Mike Abney, our AVID Coordinator, at michael.abney@pisd.edu. Please consider sharing what you do with our students! We're looking forward to hearing from you.

Hispanic Heritage Month Hispanic Heritage Month

This year's Hispanic Heritage Month takes place from Friday September 15 to Sunday October 15, 2023. To observe this month, we will celebrate the histories, cultures, and contributions of some American citizens whose ancestors came from Latin America, Spain, Mexico, and the Caribbean. September 15 is significant because it is the anniversary of independence for Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, and Nicaragua. Additionally, Mexico and Chile celebrate their independence days on September 16 and September 18 respectively. Please join us as we honor the significant contributions made by all people of Hispanic heritage to the United States as we highlight some of these contributions each day during announcements.
