Note from Attendance office

  • If your student texts/calls you from class to say they are sick, please have them ask their teacher to come up to the Health Room. The health assistants and the school nurse can release them from the Health Room. We will no longer be sending passes to students' emails to get them out of class if they're ill. This will help reduce the spread of illness within our school.

Please click the Attendance link at the bottom of the Newsletter to review all attendance polices here.

Letter from Anita's Mom

To every single soul at Mountain Vista High School,

We walk away from today with lost voices from laughing, sore arms from hugging, and hearts overflowing with a love we didn't know was possible.

For the last eighteen months, we have lived through a parent's darkest nightmare. Watching our bubbly three-year-old battle leukemia, seeing chemotherapy change her physically while she fought for her life, left us feeling isolated and profoundly alone. Yet, in the face of it all, Anita became our teacher. Her bravery and kindness showed us how to navigate the impossible.

Today, you showed us something even more profound: that strangers can reach into your soul and begin a healing process that medicine cannot touch. In every one of you, we saw a selfless devotion to giving joy to a child who has already carried too much. You didn't just host an event; you brought us back into the light.

To the Staff: Please understand that your efforts reached far beyond the walls of a classroom. You didn’t just coordinate an event; you curated a sanctuary of hope. This level of dedication is what distinguishes a teacher from a truly visionary educator. You are teaching these students how to be the heartbeat of a community, and for that, we are eternally grateful.

To the Students: We looked into your faces today and saw a future that is bright. As you go off into the world to do amazing things, we have one plea: never lose the pure, radiant souls you shared with us today. In a world that can often be cold, you chose to be warmth.

What we witnessed today is so incredible that words in English or Italian fail me. Only the Greek word, Meraki, can capture it. It means to put the "deepest essence of yourself" your soul, your creativity, and your love into something you do for someone else. It is that personal touch that makes the world sparkle. In every student and staff member, we saw this Meraki. You poured your own hearts into our daughter’s life, and in doing so, you healed our spirits.

They say you cannot change the entire world in a day, but as we look at our daughter’s smile tonight, we know for a fact that you changed ours forever.

Thank you for showing us that even when life is at its hardest, there is still a spectacular kind of goodness waiting to be found.

Con amore e gratitudine,

Anita, Mom and Dad
