Official CRES Gear: Show off those classic Coyote Ridge T-shirts, hoodies, and hats!
The Color Scheme: If your gear is in the wash, students can rock any outfit that is clearly Purple, Silver, or Black in the majority. (Think head-to-toe team colors, not just a pair of purple socks!)

Important Updates
Meet Officer Job!
IB Update: What is an IB Unit of Inquiry
At all Primary Years Program (PYP) IB World Schools, the instruction is organized around units of study, or Units of Inquiry. These units are designed around the six PYP transdisciplinary themes: Who We Are, Where We Are in Place and Time, How We Organize Ourselves, How We Express Ourselves, How the World Works, and Sharing the Planet). In first through fifth grade, students participate in six Units of Inquiry, one for each transdisciplinary theme. Kindergarten students participate in four units of inquiry. For more information, click here!
Units of Inquiry are created by the teaching staff at each PYP school, and are based on required state standards, district-adopted curriculum, IB expectations, and the natural curiosities of our students. No two PYP schools will have the same Units of Inquiry.
Each Unit of Inquiry includes:
A Central Idea: broad statement of what we’d like students to understand and remember about the unit long after it is over
Lines of Inquiry: 3-5 phrases that support the central idea and are more specific about what students will learn
Key and Related Concepts: words that support higher level thinking and provide a lens through which students can explore the central idea and lines of inquiry (change, causation, connection etc.)
Inquiry-based student activities
Multiple opportunities for students to demonstrate understanding through a variety of assessments
Opportunities for reflection and goal setting
The units typically span 3-8 weeks of the school year. The content of each Unit of Inquiry crosses subject boundaries, which is called transdisciplinary learning. For example, in fourth grade, students will explore a unit with the central idea: People make decisions for themselves and others. In this unit, students investigated making decisions related to finances, lifestyle, health, word choice and structure in writing, choice of method/algorithm in math, and artistic expression decisions. This unit addressed state standards in literacy, math, visual arts, and social studies.
Our current Units of Inquiry are under construction, since we have adopted a new literacy curriculum last year, Benchmark Advance. Teachers will be sending updates about their units throughout the year.
If you have questions about the Units of Inquiry at your child’s grade level, reach out to your child’s teacher, or IB programme coordinator Katy Wynn (katy.wynn@tsd.org).
Welcome to our new staff joining the pack!
