Leschi Community Update

Hello Leschi Families,

Thanks to all families who attended our community meet-up on Tuesday. It was great to see everyone and meet new Leschi families!

The first day of school is a week and a half away on September 2nd! Next week teachers have in-service days on Thursday, August 27th, Friday, August 28th, and the following Monday, August 31st and Tuesday, September 1st. In addition they have been attending professional development this summer and collaborating together to prepare to support your students in reading and writing this year!

Class placement will be communicated by 5pm on Tuesday, August 27th.

Remember, we will host Popsicles on the Playground on Tuesday, September 1st from 4:00-5:00 so students and families can meet their teachers and see classmates.

The First Day of School is Tuesday, September 2nd. School begins at 7:55 and dismisses at the regular time - 2:25. Wednesday, September 2nd is not an early release Wednesday. Again, please note that school dismisses at 2:25 on Wednesday, September 2nd.

Leschi Before-School Community Meet-ups

Kindergarten meet-up – Meet at Peppi’s Park on Thursday, August 27th at 4:00pm to meet the kindergarten teachers and each other. Kindergarten teachers will be present to connect and answer questions. Please see the attached flier

Popsicles on the Playground - Tues, Sept 1st

Gather on the playground on Tuesday, September 3rd from 4:00 – 5:00 to meet your teacher and reconnect with classmates. Class placement will be communicated Tuesday, August 27th.

First Day of School

• The first day of school for 1st - 5th graders is Wednesday, September 2nd.
• Preschool and Kindergarten’s first day is Tuesday, September 8th.

Preschool and Kindergarten families: teachers will reach out to schedule a Family Connection Conference held September 3rd, 4th, and 5th, in person or on teams.

Daily Schedule

Leschi begins at 7:55 and dismisses at 2:25 Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday. Leschi begins at 7:55 and dismisses at 1:10 on Wednesday. There is no student supervision prior to 7:40.

The first day of school, September 3rd, will dismiss at the regular time – 2:25.

School Supplies

Leschi provides all students school supplies. You do not need to buy any supplies for your students. Families in need of a backpack and/or lunch box, please contact Leschi’s Family Support Worker Omaretta Sharpley omsharpley@seattleschools.org.
