Positive Behavioral Supports at Lilja

Dear Families,

Thank you all for your support of our Board Game Bonanza! This was an even better event than anticipated, with successful, respectful, and FUN game play across classrooms!

We’re excited to share about our next event, Read Across Lilja, a cozy, school-wide celebration of reading that highlights the core value of Inclusivity. This special day encourages everyone—students, teachers, and staff—to come together, wear their favorite pajamas, and share the joy of stories in a warm, welcoming environment. This will take place on Tuesday, December 23rd.

What Will This Look Like? What Will This Look Like?

  • Everyone is invited to wear pajamas, fuzzy slippers, or cozy robes to school to create a comfortable and accepting atmosphere.
  • At a designated time, the whole school will pause to “Drop Everything and Read” together, surrounded by cozy visuals like glowing fireplaces and twinkling stars.

  • Classrooms and common areas become storybook settings where everyone reads in whichever manner allows them to best access a good story—showing that every person and every story matters.

  • Through shared reading and fun activities, we celebrate that inclusivity means making sure everyone feels safe, welcome, and valued.

  • Encourage your child to share their favorite stories and listen to others’ stories with kindness.

  • Play reading games or do creative activities like acting out characters or imagining new story endings together.

  • Celebrate the idea that everyone’s ideas and feelings are important and help build a caring community.
