Looking Back at the Homecoming Parade & Rally!
What an incredible night in Bearcat Nation! Monday night’s Homecoming Parade and Community Pep Rally was the perfect way to kick off Homecoming Week. From the spirit-filled floats to the sea of orange and black, it was amazing to see our community All in Aledo by showing up in full force to celebrate together.
Thank you to our students, staff, families and neighbors for making this tradition so special. Your energy and support are what make Aledo such a unique place. Here’s to an unforgettable way to start off Homecoming Week!
The Coming Home Queen: A tradition across generations found only in Aledo
This year, we’re proud to welcome back Cheryl Broumley Horton, Aledo’s Class of 1975 Homecoming Queen, as our 2025 Coming Home Queen. From leading the Homecoming Parade to being honored at the big game, Cheryl’s return connects past and present by bridging generations of Bearcats through a tradition that can happen Only in Aledo.
It’s exceptional experiences like these that make Aledo more than a school district, it’s a family. A place where history is celebrated, memories are cherished and new legacies are built every day. That’s what it means to be All in Aledo.

Nutrition News
Have you tried some of our nutritious and yummy NEW veggie recipes? We have fresh honey glazed carrots, fresh roasted Brussels sprouts, baby French green beans, and fresh broccoli with cheese sauce! Make sure to grab some on your way through the line!
Update on Attendance Notifications
Ascender ParentPortal no longer supports text message alerts. Parents can still receive important notifications about attendance and grades via email through the ParentPortal system. We have been made aware that there are some issues currently with email notifications being delivered from Ascender, and we are working with Region 11 to get this fixed as soon as possible.
We encourage all parents to log in and update their notification preferences to email. Please remember that alerts must be set up individually for each student to ensure you receive all communications.
There is no change to unexcused absence notifications. These will continue to be sent through Blackboard at 6 p.m. each day a student is marked with an unexcused absence.
For questions or assistance, please contact your campus registrar or email studentregistration@aledoisd.org.
Aledo ISD Celebrate Attendance Week Sept. 29-Oct. 3!
We're Celebrating Attendance next week across Aledo ISD! Check out your campus newsletters and/or social media for activities planned for students and staff!
Meanwhile... check out these Six Reasons to Come to School Every Day!
1. Reading on Grade Level: Studies show that consistent attendance from Pre-K gives the best start for early literacy development. Students who aren't reading on grade level by 3rd grade have a lower chance of graduating. It starts that early!
2. Form Lasting Friendships: Attending daily allows students to foster strong social bonds and an inclusive peer network. Even if not all friendships work out, developing the skills is only possible with ongoing interaction. Students who develop their social skills through school attendance have more positive relationships, overall.
3. Develop Effective Study Habits Early: Good attendance instills vital skills like punctuality, time management and self-discipline. A big part of succeeding is learning how to learn. Daily attendance from elementary onwards helps students build their toolbox of strategies for success.
4. Demonstrate Responsibility and Commitment: Employers value established patterns of dedication and follow-through. Whether students are getting after school jobs in high school, or securing employment after graduation, good work habits are formed by consistent school attendance. It's also how students get teachers to serve as references!
5. Maximize Instructional Time with Teachers: Fewer disruptions means more personalized learning and academic support. Sometimes, students don't come to school because they're struggling with the material in class and staying home is a way to avoid it. But the better choice is to come to school -- that's where the support is. The more time students have with their teachers, the more successful they will be.
6. Greater Self-Esteem and Confidence: Not having to play catch-up reduces stress and boosts self-assurance. This is exactly what will carry students successfully through graduation and beyond.
Celebrations: We're excited to recognize these AISD students & staff members!

Important Information about Tim Buchanan Stadium
INCLUDES NEW UPDATES FOR 2025!
Our Aledo ISD Police Department is implementing a new EXIT traffic pattern for after varsity home football games at Tim Buchanan Stadium. Please study this map and consider parking based on which way you are traveling after the game. Just as with new traffic patterns at schools the first week of school, we ask that you are patient with us as we implement this. We will communicate any changes that will help refine this process, if needed, after the first game.
As always, we will have Aledo ISD police officers directing traffic, and you should expect delays and traffic on Friday night home games. Gates will open an hour before kickoff for each home game. Parking lots are open at 4:30 p.m., and the road directly in front of Tim Buchanan Stadium will be blocked off for pedestrians only beginning an hour before kickoff.
