Why we're having success

Teachers have committed to learning new ways of integrating technology by attending device level trainings, taking PD courses through MLP, researching on their own, inviting us into their classrooms, sharing ideas and best practices with each other, and meeting one-to-one with instructional technologists.

DID YOU KNOW? DID YOU KNOW?

Parents' Bill of Rights

Did you know that the district has a “Parents' Bill of Rights” for data privacy and security?

This is part of New York State’s Common Core Implementation Reform Act.

The Parents’ Bill of Rights informs parents of the legal requirements regarding privacy, security and use of student data. It also provides important safe guards for the security and confidentiality of student data.

Every vendor that has Saratoga Springs City School District student information is required to sign the district’s ‘Statement of Assurances’ document. The main goals include:

  1. Limit internal access to education records to those individuals determined to have legitimate educational interests;
  2. Not use the education records for any other purposes than those explicitly authorized by the School District in the Agreement;
  3. Not disclose personally identifiable information to any other party
  4. Maintain reasonable administrative, technical and physical safeguards to protect the security, confidentiality and integrity of personally identifiable student information
  5. Use encryption technology to protect data from unauthorized disclosure
  6. Return/destroy all student data, teacher or principal data upon expiration of the Agreement

The district has signed agreements with 38 vendors. To find out if the vendor you are working with has signed a statement of assurances agreement, please contact Kathy Goodwin (District Data Coordinator) at k_goodwin@saratogaschools.org.
