Successes in the Burrow!
Hello Students and Families!
We have so much to celebrate in the burrow this week! We had so many students and families participate in the pumking decorating contest! You are all so creative and talented! Our LMC looked amazing with all the decorated pumpkins!
Students and staff looked fabulous in their costumes for the parade. Thank you to the Patterson PTA who organized our fall parties and thank you to all the parent volunteers who helped to run our fall parties! The activities were highly engaging for the students and they had so much fun!
Today, we had the Fox Valley Park district visit our school and they taught each grade level how to play new recess games. This was a great way to wrap up Red Ribbon Week as this program focused on physical activity as an essential part of our students' overall helath and well-being. The program focused on game play that helped the children develop thier social skills such as communication, cooperation, and conflict resolution.
Quarter one report cards go live this evening. You can access your child's report card through your ParentVue account under the report card tab.
As a reminder, there is NO SCHOOL on Monday, November 4th; teachers will be engaging in professional development for institute day. There is also NO SCHOOL on Tuesday, November 5th as this is election day. Enjoy the four day weekend!
Check out the pictures below of some happenings around the burrow!
Thank you for sharing your children with us each day!

IIMPORTANT INFORMATION ON OUR AUTHOR VISIT
Chris Grabenstein will visit our 3-5 graders on November 6! If your student purchased a book, please make sure they bring it in on Wednesday to have it autographed.
- We still have copies available for purchase of Chris Grabenstein's new book (which officially does NOT come out until November 5!) and the first graphic novel of the Mr. Lemoncello series.
- A form to purchase Chris Grabenstein's newest and last book of the Escape from Mr. Lemoncello's Library series was sent home! He will be autographing all purchases! (I have linked the form below if you need another copy).
TECH NEWS:
- Students in Grades 2-5 all have Chromebooks that will travel to and from school daily. Grades K-1 will keep their Chromebooks at school in a charging cart in the classroom to use throughout the day.
- Please keep all chargers at home, do not send them to school. Students are responsible for charging their Chromebooks at home for the school day. We do not have the capability to charge Chromebooks during the day for students. Thank you for helping students be successful here at school!
- Students take home Chromebooks every night for charging to be ready for the next day of learning at school. Each grade level has different expectations on homework or practice at night on Chromebooks. Please contact your child's teacher for more information on what is required.
- Just a reminder that Chromebooks are for schoolwork only. Students are allowed to access their dashboard (SSO) that has multiple items for them to use. Other sites allowed are Mrs. Maly's LMC page with activites or their teacher's Google Classroom which may have items for them to access.

Fall Parent Teacher Conferences
Parent Teacher Conferences will be held in person at Patterson on Thursday, November 21st from 4:30pm-8:00pm and Monday, November 25th from 8:00am-3:00pm and 4:30pm-8:00pm. This is a great opportunity to connect with your child's teacher to learn about your child's strengths as a learner, opportunities for growth, as well as to ask any questions you may have. We are encouraging ALL families or guardians to attend parent teacher conferences.
Sign Up for Parent Teacher Conferences will open in ParentVue on Wednesday November 13th and will remain open until November 19th. To schedule your conference, log into ParentVue and select "Conference" from the menu on the left side to see available times. Once you have scheduled your time, you can click "Email Schedule" to have the details emailed to you.
Parents should only schedule a conference with their child's homeroom teacher. If your child has a different math teacher, that teacher will share an update with the homeroom teacher for the conference.
Mrs. LaCoursiere will send out a separate sign up for Project Arrow parent teacher conferences. This will be sent out on November 13th as well.
PE Reminders and Updates
First quarter has flown by in PE! We have accomplished so much and the students are now set in their routines and expectations. For 2nd quarter we will be participating in our floor hockey and basketball units. There will be continued breakdown of specific skills for all grades and exposure to the basic game play rules.
For 2nd quarter we will begin “written” PE assignments for those students that are unable to participate in class activities. Students will be able to complete these assignments in the gym during their normal class time. The assignments will be PE focused. This will enable students to participate in PE even though they need to sit out of the activity. Assignments for K-1st students that are unable to participate over multiple days will be tailored to their developmental level.
Also, this a reminder that tennis shoes are necessary to participate fully and safely in PE activities. Students will not be allowed to participate in class activities if they are wearing crocs, boots, etc. of any kind due to safety concerns. If students forget PE shoes, they will engage in the written activity for the class period.
Thank You
Jared Folley

Veteran's Day Assembly to Celebrate our Heroes!
On Monday, November 11, 2024, Patterson Elementary School will honor those who have served or are serving in the Armed Forces by hosting a very special Veteran’s Day celebration led by the Chorus. An All-School Student Assembly will be held in the gym at 9:30 a.m.
We invite any Patterson family members (parents, grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins) who served, or are serving, in the United States Armed Forces to join us as our Guests of Honor. If you have a family member who will be able to join our celebration, please click the link to fill out the information below and return it to the Patterson office by Friday, November 8.
If you know of someone who would like to be a special speaker for the event, please contact kari_rothmeyer@ipsd.org and Michelle Hebenstreit, michelle_hebenstreit@ipsd.org .
Veterans who will attend our celebration as a Guest of Honor should meet in the front office at 9:15 a.m. before moving to the gym, where they will be seated. Please make sure to bring your id. All of these veterans will be recognized for their service to our country during the program. If possible, they should wear a symbol of their branch of service (uniform, hat, ribbons, or medals). There will be a small reception immediately following the assembly.
As a special part of our celebration, we are planning a picture montage of any veteran with a relation to Patterson students and staff. You can also fill out the Patterson Heroes attached sheet or pick one up in the front office to be hung up in the hallway to remember those who are serving or those who have served. Pictures can also be emailed as attachments to kari_rothmeyer@ipsd.org
Please start sending your photos as soon as possible so they can be displayed in the hallway at the beginning of November.
Please click this link HERE to complete the RSVP and Patterson Hero Picture which can be turned in to the office with attention to Michelle Hebenstreit and Kari Rothmeyer.

Staff will be present at all entrances being used for arrival and dismissal to supervise students.
