Marlette Elementary School December Update - December 11, 2023

Note from the Principal - Mr. Reynolds

Hi everyone,

The Holiday Season is upon us and I want to take the time to tell everyone how lucky and thankful I am to each one of you at Marlette Elementary. I want to thank the Marlette Elementary school staff who has worked tirelessly inside and outside of the classroom to help our students physically, academically, and emotionally. I want to thank every student who comes into our school ready to learn, no matter the influences that could make it easy or difficult. Finally, I would like to thank you, the parents and guardians, who support your child through their Marlette Elementary School journey.

During the much needed Christmas Break, please take time as a family to relax and recharge. The school will be ready to start the second half of the school year upon your return.

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.

Mr. Reynolds

PBIS - Positive Behaviorial Interventions and Supports

At Marlette Elementary, we have a multi-tiered support system to acknowledge positive behaviors and to improve negative behaviors throughout the school. We reward positive behaviors a few different ways:

- Student of the Week: Three teachers, upon a rotation of the whole teaching staff, select a student to be named Marlette Elementary Student of the Week. The teacher selects the student and completes a small write-up that is turned into a certificate. The student's name and picture is also displayed on the front sign and posted on social media.

- Red Raider Pride Tickets: Students can earn tickets for displaying ready, respectful, and responsible behaviors by any staff member throughout the school day. These tickets are collected by each classroom teacher. Weekly, teachers draw one student to be their Red Raider Pride winner who earns a token for a free book from the book vending machine. A picture of the weekly winners will be posted on social media. At the end of each month, there is either a competition or a drawing to celebrate positive behaviors. In November, it was a drawing to pie a staff member. In December, the three classrooms with the most tickets will have a cookie and/or beverage party.

- L-E-A-D-E-R Rewards: Whole classrooms that show positive behaviors throughout the hallways, gymnasium, and cafeteria by being quiet, in a straight line, and keeping their hands and feet to themselves can earn a "LEADER" letter by earning a compliment from another staff member. Once a classroom spells "LEADER", the class can determine a classroom reward.
