SAEBRS Opt-Out
Oxford Middle School is committed to supporting academic progress and students' social, emotional, and behavioral growth.
Again this year at OMS, we will be completing a universal screening tool to assess the academic, social, and emotional learning skills of all students. The Social, Academic, and Emotional Behavior Risk Screener (SAEBRS) is a tool that measures common behavioral criteria in Social Behavior, Academic Behavior, and Emotional Behavior. The data will be used internally to look for trends across the school and grade levels and to develop instructional next steps to support students. As with all student data, we maintain strict levels of confidentiality.
In the next few weeks, both students and teachers will use SAEBRS. The screener will ask students 19 questions (questions are below). This will take place in Advisory during the month of January. The screener is taken on a Chromebook and will last no longer than 10 minutes. In addition, each student will have one teacher complete a rating scale for him/her. To complete each SAEBRS item, the teacher will indicate how frequently the student has displayed each behavior (as described within each item) during the previous month.
Students and teachers are not new to screeners. At OMS, we use STAR for reading and math three times a year. This data is collected to help plan academic interventions and accelerated classes for students.
No student will be required to complete the SAEBRS screener and there is no penalty for students who do not complete the survey. We just ask that you complete this form by 1/9/2026 if you want to opt your student out from taking the 2025 Social, Academic, Emotional, Behavior Risk Screener (SAEBRS).

Erin's Law Opt-Out
We value the importance of social, emotional, and physical well-being for all of our students. This year, in addition to the social-emotional lessons taught to our students in advisory, we will be adding 2 lessons related to personal safety. Specifically, we will be teaching students skills and strategies to help them stay safe from dangerous or abusive situations. Lessons concepts include:
Recognize: Healthy vs. Unhealthy Relationships
Students will engage in discussions about different types of relationships and how we can identify if it is healthy or unhealthy. The students will discuss how to build a healthy relationship, what they can do if they are in an unhealthy relationship, and where to turn to for support.
Reporting & Refusing: Ways to Stay Safe
Students will have an introduction to the meaning of consent and how to say no in an uncomfortable situation. Students will review the resources and where to turn to for support.
If you have any questions or wish to preview the lessons, please contact your child’s counselor.
If you do not want your child to participate in these specific personal safety lessons. Please opt out by January 9th, 2026.

*Do not pull up to the main building walkway and stop if there is space ahead*
If you elect to walk your student(s) to the building entrance, please park in an empty space and walk your student to the sidewalk. You will need to re-enter the traffic flow in the yellow arrow section.
