A Message From Mrs. Webb

Hello Wildcats,

We hope this message finds you well! As we head into the Thanksgiving season, we want to share a few important updates and special events happening on our campus.

A Note on ZAP Study Hall

For this week only, please note a temporary change:

  • ZAP Study Hall is cancelled for today (November 19). We kindly ask that you make arrangements for your student to head home immediately after our regular dismissal time on Wednesday. Thank you for your flexibility!

Wishing You a Happy Thanksgiving Break!

We are looking forward to a restful week with family and friends!

  • Thanksgiving Break: Our campus will be closed all of next week, giving everyone time to celebrate.

  • Campus Closure Dates: Monday, November 25 through Friday, November 29.

  • Classes will joyfully resume on Monday, December 2, 2025.

This Friday: Pep Rally Schedule & Student vs. Teacher Volleyball!

  • Schedule Change: We will follow a Pep Rally Schedule on Friday to accommodate this fun event.

  • Feature Event: Come cheer on your classmates and staff during the much-anticipated Student vs. Teacher Volleyball Tournament!

Join the Fun! Participation Details:

Spectator / General Admission $2.00: Tickets will be sold Thursday and Friday before school and during lunch (Thursday only).

Players (per team): $20.00

Team sign-up sheets are located outside the front office. Both boys and girls must be on your team.

We value both fun and success! To ensure a focus on positive behavior and academics, students wishing to play or attend the tournament must meet the following criteria:

  • Be currently passing all classes.

  • Have NO ISS/BASE, OSS, or DAEP discipline placements during the 2nd Nine Weeks grading period.

We truly appreciate your support and wish you all a wonderful time this holiday season!

Sincerely,
Steffanie Webb
Principal

Pre-Service Affidavit

A new state requirement now asks volunteers who completed a background check through VOLY after August 12, 2025, to also complete a pre-service affidavit. This affidavit is a legal document that discloses certain background information and is now required for all individuals providing services in schools. Volunteers affected by this change should have received direct communication from the district, and will have until December 17, 2025, to complete the affidavit. You may continue volunteering as usual while you submit the affidavit. After December 17, volunteers who have not completed the affidavit will temporarily move to “Denied” status in VOLY until the new form is submitted and cleared.

All new volunteer applications beginning November 20 and after will include both the affidavit and a background check review.

2025-2026 Spring STAAR & End-of-Course (EOC) Paper by Request (HB1225)

If a student receives Special Education or 504 services and is requesting a paper test, please contact the appropriate campus ARD or 504 committee. There is a different process and form for those requests.

House Bill 1225 provides a new optional process for school districts to provide a paper administration of a STAAR assessment to any student whose parent, guardian, or teacher requests a paper version. A request for a paperadministration of spring STAAR High School EOCs and spring STAAR grades 3-8 must be submitted by 4 p.m. on December 1st and will be considered on a first come, first serve basis. The number of students who are provided a Paper by Request administration of STAAR may not exceed 3% of the number of eligible students testing. Applicants will be notified of status by 4 p.m. on December 12, 2025.

If you have any questions, please contact the LISD Assessment department at 972-350-0960.

LISD Angel Tree – Spreading Holiday Cheer

The LISD Angel Tree program is now open! This heartwarming district tradition helps ensure that every child in our community experiences the joy of the holiday season. Families in need can register their children to receive gifts, and community members can sign up to “adopt” an angel and make a difference for a local student.

If your family could use assistance this holiday season, or if you’d like to help fulfill a child’s wish list, please visit the LISD Angel Tree website to learn more and get involved:

Together, we can make the season brighter for every Wildcat!

Post-it Note "Darts"

Families, please take a moment to speak with your student about a recent TikTok trend involving “Post-It darts.” These are made by wrapping Post-It notes around staples or other small objects and throwing them—often into ceiling tiles or at walls. This behavior is not only causing damage to our building, but it is also very dangerous. A flying staple could easily cause an eye injury or harm another student.

Students found making or throwing these darts will receive disciplinary consequences. We appreciate your help reinforcing that safety and respect for our school environment are always our top priorities.

Preplanned Absences

Pre-planned absences MUST be submitted at least 5 days prior to the start of the absence. The link to the pre-planned absences is: Attendance Note Submission. The absence process is below.

Unexcused Absences and Truancy

We appreciate your partnership in helping our Wildcats succeed every day! Regular school attendance is one of the most important factors in academic success. As a reminder, students are allowed up to 5 unexcused absences or parent notes per school year.

Once a student reaches 4 unexcused absences, an Attendance Improvement Plan will be created to support consistent attendance and address any barriers that may be impacting your child’s ability to attend school regularly. Continued unexcused absences can result in truancy being filed, as required by state law.

Our goal is to work together with families to ensure every student is present, engaged, and on track. If your family is facing challenges that make attendance difficult, please reach out to us—we’re here to help!

Thank you for your continued support in making daily attendance a priority.

Tardy Information

This is a friendly reminder about our school’s tardy expectations. Students who are tardy to 3rd period or who receive three tardies to any period in a semester will be assigned lunch detention. Continued tardies may lead to additional consequences as outlined in our campus discipline plan.

Being on time to class helps students start the day focused and ready to learn. Please take a moment to remind your child about the importance of getting to each class on time and being prepared for instruction.

Fan Guidelines

Our student athletes are off to a great start, and we are so excited to cheer them on both on and off the field this school year. I want to share our spectator guidelines with you to ensure we are good partners in the student experience, maintaining a safe and positive atmosphere for our children at all fall and spring events. Review LISD’s fan guidelines below before attending any event at an LISD campus:

No outside food or drink. Water is permitted, but must be in its original container. No insulated tumblers, fast food cups, personal water bottles, etc.
No backpacks
Applaud and cheer for your team
Support coaches, players and officials:
No profanity of any kind is allowed
No individual taunting of players
No throwing of objects
No taunting of officials
Never approach an official at any point
If fans cannot adhere to the above guidelines, the following will result:
Individuals will be asked to leave
Individuals may be escorted out by appropriate school designee or law enforcement
Individuals may be suspended from attending future athletic events

Thank you in advance for your cooperation. We look forward to an incredible year of success for our student athletes.
