Technology & Words We Use
WHS Students, Parents and Guardians,
Please take a few moments to have a family chat about using kind, respectful language when communicating online. The same expectations we share in person apply when typing: treat others as you would like to be treated, avoid hurtful comments, and never make threatsâeven as a joke. Taking a moment to pause before typing can help prevent misunderstandings and serious concerns.
To support student safety, the District uses Lightspeed Alert to monitor District devices and technology resources. This includes activity through a studentâs District account while logged in on a personal or other non-District device.
- Please remind your child that deleting something they typed does not necessarily prevent an alert. We may still receive a notification and must investigate potential safety concerns.
Students should use District devices to access the District portal when possible and remember to log out of their District account and Google profile when finished, especially on a personal or shared device.
Our goal is to keep students safe and help them make thoughtful, responsible choices. Thank you for partnering with us and reinforcing the Wellington Way: being respectful of ourselves and others and responsible in our words and deeds!
How Parents Can Opt Back Into Receiving Messages!!!

Phone calls: Call the hotline at 855-502-7867 from the line that has been opted out. Then, press 2 to opt back in.

Positive Strategies for Supporting Behavior at Home
Volunteers Needed - Community Respite Program! Check out flyer below...
HOSA
To start, we would like to thank everyone for the huge success of the Adopt-a-Family of the Palm Beaches drive. This was our major activity held from September 8th to 22nd where we aimed to donate essentials and recreational items to homeless families in need. We are grateful for all those who donated to this noble cause.
To kick off October, HOSA is proud to support Breast Cancer Awareness Month! In doing so we will be conducting our annual Pink Pumpkin Fundraiser! For our Pink Pumpkin Fundraiser, we will be putting together goodie bags that feature breast cancer awareness items and pink pumpkins.
A majority of funds raised will be donated to breast cancer research facilities, so any support is greatly appreciated! Our goal is to raise at least $300. The pink pumpkin baskets will be on sale during both lunches in front of the Media center and LDLC on October 22nd, 23rd, and 26th! We encourage everyone to spread the word and stop by the LDLC and Media Center to support this meaningful cause!
This month, HOSA is excited to welcome our first guest speaker of the year. On October 15th after school in room 4-110, firefighter Ryan McGlynn and Instructor T will be joining us to discuss emergency care and preparedness. This is a fantastic opportunity for members to learn about emergency response to broaden their knowledge about the healthcare field. Our guest speaker activity will take place in person at 3:20 pm, and we encourage all members to attend!
In addition to our healthcare initiatives, HOSA also took the time to recognize and celebrate Principal Appreciation Month! Our members came together to create a goodie bag and appreciation video thanking our principal for her leadership, dedication, and commitment she brings to Wellington High Schools Community. We are so grateful for the hard work Mrs.Gorham puts into making Wellington High School a better place for students and staff!
As always, you can find all of our latest news, updates, and upcoming events on our official Instagram page at @hosa_whs26. Thank you!

Policies & Procedures!!
STUDENT IDENTIFICATION - Policy 5.0115 : Student ID's and Lanyards
Our updated Safety and Security procedures require that all students and staff wear IDs visibly around their neck while on campus. All students will wear a grade-specific ID and lanyard, no exceptions, which will allow quick identification of all students.
Responsibilities of Parents, Guardians, and Students
- All students (Pre-K through 12th grade) are required to have their current School District-issued ID badge displayed while on School District property.
- Students must display their ID Badges in the manner in which the school administration has deemed appropriate.
- When School District administration or staff ask a student to present or show his/her ID badge, the student is required to present the ID badge to the requesting District administrator or staff member and display the ID badge in compliance with Policy 5.0115.
- Students must report the loss of an ID Badge.
- Students may not loan their ID Badge to another student for use. The ID badge may be used only by the individual student to whom it was issued and is not transferable.
- Any misuse, alteration or fabrication of an ID badge may subject the holder to disciplinary action.
- When students graduate or withdraw from the School District during the school year, each student must return his/her ID badge(s) to the issuing school.
- Students may not alter their ID badges in any way in accordance with the Student Code of Conduct Policies (School Board Policies 5.1812 and 5.1813)
Replacement of Lost or Stolen ID Badges
If an ID badge is lost or stolen, the student must report the loss to their schoolâs front office staff during regular school hours on the first calendar school day following the loss.
Since the School District incurs costs related to providing ID badges to students, a studentâs first replacement ID badge within the school year will be provided free of charge to the student. In the event that a student needs additional replacement ID badges (beyond the first replacement ID badge), a fee may be collected to cover the replacement costs directly related to the replacement ID badge.
- In any case where a student is experiencing homelessness as provided by federal or state law or School Board Policy 5.74, no fees shall be assessed or collected from the student for replacement ID Badges.
- If a student requires a replacement badge in excess of five times during the school year, the Principal or Assistant Principal is authorized to follow the established processes for the determination of consequences in compliance with the Student Code of Conduct Policies (School Board Policies 5.1812 and 5.1813).
- All students will be provided with 1 new student ID. Any student without an ID/lanyard is required to immediately report to the Main Office to obtain a new ID/lanyard at his/her expense. Each ID = $4.00. Each lanyard = $4.00. If you need both, it is a total of $8.00. Please check SIS obligations regularly!

Students will use their ID at:
