Reflex Challenge
As of Friday, February 21st our homeroom is in 2nd place!
Keep working hard, one more week to do for this challenge!
Reflex Reminders
As a reminder, students should be working in Reflex 3 times a week as noted on their planner. If you need a reminder of how to log in, please see below. You can click the image to make it bigger and print out if you'd like.
Use the green circle in the corner to help track how close they are to a green light.
Reminders
- Please be sure you make a habit to mark attendance each day in 2nd semester. As a reminder, students are required to have 25 hours of attendance each week (5 hours each weekday). As long as your student completes what is on their planner each day, you can mark their 5 hours of attendance.
- As their Learning Coach, please offer guidance and support through their lessons. We do not expect or want 2nd Grade students to do their lessons completely on their own. However, whenever it comes to quizzes/tests, while you CAN read questions to them and clarify things if needed, when it comes to the answer, they MUST do this part on their own.
- ALL portfolios must be handwritten and written in complete sentences. Open ended questions on tests must also be written in complete sentences now that we have started 2nd semester. As we mentioned in 1st semester, if they are not written in complete sentences points will be deducted.

READ all directions CAREFULLY!
On graded assignments, make sure to read and follow ALL instructions.
For example, some questions (especially in Math) may ask you to choose two correct answers. If two correct answers are not chosen your student will not receive full credit for that question.
Please answer in complete sentences for all free response questions on quizzes, tests, and portfolios.

Frequently Asked Questions
What does my child need to be successful?
Learning Coach to help guide and support student learning
Notebook paper
Pencils
Whiteboard
Dry erase markers
Crayons/Colored Pencils
Any other items you and your child may want to add to their designated workspace (this should be a space they enjoy and feel comfortable working in).
What if I can't make a live lesson due to a doctor apt or illness?
- Let your teacher know in advance and you can watch the recording which is linked on the "LiveLesson Recording" tab on the 2nd Grade Message Board.
My child is struggling to write a paper, what do I do?!
- Remember, they are still young...they are 7 & 8 years old. Break it down for them. At no point, should a second grader be writing a whole paper in one day. This will be a headache for you and tears for them. If your child is able to do this, let them! Otherwise, please plan ahead to break down writing portfolios into little chunks a day.
- Teachers will assist with giving timelines for each step and will provide examples and rubrics to assist with the process.
