Superintendent's Update
February 14, 2025 - Happy Valentine's Day!
Weather Decisions, Teacher of the Year Nominees, and Marking Period Awards
Dear CCPS Families,
As we continue through this winter season, I want to address a few important matters for our school community.
Inclement Weather Decisions
We understand how important it is to stay informed about potential changes to our school schedules due to inclement weather. Please rest assured that our priority is always the safety of our students, staff, and families. Decisions regarding school closures or delays will be made with careful consideration of weather conditions, road safety, and local advisories. We will communicate any updates via our usual channels, including email, our website, and social media platforms, so please be sure to stay tuned. In the event of a weather-related delay or closure, please check these platforms for timely information.
Teacher of the Year Nominees
We are proud to announce the nominees for the 2025 CCPS Teacher of the Year! These outstanding educators have demonstrated exceptional dedication, innovation, and passion for teaching. They represent the best of our district, and we are thrilled to honor their hard work and commitment to student success. Congratulations to all of our nominees! Your efforts truly make a difference in the lives of our students.
Second Marking Period Awards
We are excited to recognize the achievements of our students across the district. In fact, we are proud to share that 5,251 students received honor roll recognition! We encourage everyone to keep striving for success as we move forward into the second half of the year.
Thank you for your continued support of our schools. We are looking forward to a productive and rewarding second semester, and as always, please do not hesitate to reach out if you have any questions or concerns.
Sincerely,
Jeffrey A. Lawson, Ed.D.

PowerSchool Breach Information
PowerSchool has engaged Experian to provide identity protection and credit monitoring services to current and former students and educators that had information exfiltrated from PowerSchool SIS. PowerSchool is doing this regardless of whether an individual’s Social Security Number was exfiltrated. In the coming weeks, Experian (on behalf of PowerSchool) will be distributing direct email notifications to involved individuals (or their parent/guardian, as applicable).
Additionally, PowerSchool has worked with Experian to set up a toll-free call center to answer any questions associated with these offerings and the incident. All the information regarding the activation of and access to these services will be included in the email sent to you by Experian. Whether or not you receive an email, you may also visit PowerSchool’s website to learn how to activate the offering from Experian, linked here: http://www.powerschool.com/security/sis-incident/notice-of-united-states-data-breach/.
This website also contains additional information regarding the steps to secure your identity.
