Illustrator Chris Eliopoulos to Visit Boyden!
We are so excited to announce that illustrator Chris Eliopoulos will be visiting our school on Tuesday, October 6th, from 1:45 to 2:30 PM for an all-school assembly (Grades K–5).
Chris is the illustrator of the wildly popular biography series Ordinary People Change the World and the hit PBS Kids program Xavier Riddle and the Secret Museum. He will be sharing details about the latest book in the series, I Am the Wright Brothers. It is the 40th title in the series!
This event is brought to us through a wonderful partnership with An Unlikely Story bookstore in Plainville, with sponsorship provided by the Boyden PAC. Thank you for making this visit possible.
If you would like to order a book from An Unlikely Story and have Chris sign it while he is at Boyden, please use the QR code on this flyer. All orders must be in by Tuesday September 29th. Students should bring their books into the media center the morning of October 6th. Please contact Mrs. Moses (kmoses@walpole.k12.ma.us) with any questions.

Media/STEM Update
What a great start to the school year! Here’s what’s happening in Media/STEM.
In the library, our focus in September has been on learning our routines. These include exploring why the library is important, learning how it’s organized, and discovering how to find our favorite books. Students also discussed how to care for library books, and our 5th graders are currently creating book care posters using Canva.
Everyone completed their first book checkout! Please help your child return their books so they are ready to check out new ones next week. Our next book checkout is Oct 5-8.
We are getting ready for an exciting visit from author and illustrator Chris Eliopoulos on Tuesday, October 6th. Students have been exploring his books, creating welcome messages and preparing thoughtful questions for a Q&A session with him. If your family purchased a book for Chris to sign, please have your student bring it to Mrs. Moses in the media center. If you have any questions, email Mrs. Moses at kmoses@walpole.k12.ma.us
Morning hours started this week! On Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Fridays, 3rd–5th graders can visit the library before school after checking in with their classroom teacher. This is a great time for students to return and find books, ask Mrs. Moses for recommendations, or enjoy browsing at a quieter time.
Electric Bikes & Scooters
We want to highlight the growing presence of electric bikes and electric scooters - We want to remind families to talk with their children about being cautious and remaining alert for cars, noting that the speed of these bikes and scooters can be unexpected for drivers. Increased awareness is essential—both for students using them and for drivers adjusting to their presence on the roads.
Per the School Handbook: Elementary and middle school students who ride electric bicycles (e-bikes) to school must use pedal mode only while on school property. The electric motor (throttle and/or electric assist) must be turned off upon entering school grounds and remain off until the student has exited school property.
