Campus Administrator ~ Ann Flanagan

As we reach the end of the first semester, we want to take a moment to recognize the many wonderful things happening across our school community. Our students have shown great dedication through their involvement in athletics, performances, and clubs, and their hard work and commitment have truly been impressive.

We are proud of all that has been accomplished this semester and grateful for the support of our families and staff. As we move into the break, we encourage everyone to get some well-deserved rest and enjoy quality time with loved ones. We look forward to welcoming everyone back refreshed and ready for the next semester.

Wishing you a wonderful Winter Break and look forward to welcoming everyone back in 2026!

COUNSELING COUNSELING

Greetings 8th Grade Families!

High School registration is right around the corner and I wanted to put a few dates on everyone’s calendars. First, a couple of housekeeping items:

***If your student has applied to attend another school other than CCHS, we will still have your student complete the CCHS registration process. This provides a back up solution in case your student is not accepted, and acceptance to your school of choice is typically not known until after the CCHS registration process is completed.

***With permission from CCHS, we hope to put any recorded videos on our Family Resource Center website. Please navigate to the resources below for additional registration information:

    • WMS Family Resource Center
    • CCHS 26-27 Registration Guide

Important Dates:

  • Jan. 12th Students watch a pre-recorded video during Advisory about CCHS, programs, activities and opportunities available.
    • *Students will bring home their registration card (due 1/29) to review class choices with their families - Parents must sign.
  • Jan. 15th Virtual Live Q&A with CCHS Counselors during Advisory (2:11PM-2:41PM)
  • Jan. 20th 8th Grade Tours at CCHS 9:30AM-12:30PM (students only)
  • Jan. 20th 8th Grade Information Night at CCHS (families and students): 6PM in the CCHS FA Theatre
  • Jan. 29th Students input their choices into PowerSchool during Advisory (with CCHS Counselors present)

Save the Date for our district’s annual reading event: Cherry Creek Reads. This year’s celebration runs March 9–13, 2026, and it promises to be a week filled with meaningful connections and shared stories.

During the month of March, West will celebrate Cherry Creek Reads with our own version of the NCAA’s March Madness event. Instead of basketball, we will have a Book Bracket. Sixteen books are paired against each other for four rounds of competition. Readers can vote on each round until we get to one champion book. WMS Spotlight on Community Giving and Support

West Community & PTCO,

We owe you a huge thank you for everything you do for our staff and students! Thanks to your generosity and ongoing support, we were able to provide all of our teachers with classroom-level enrichment funds to help them enhance their learning spaces and elevate the daily experience for your children.

“When communities invest in schools, they invest in the future, because every contribution strengthens the opportunities and experiences our students receive.”

Please enjoy the photos below showcasing the wonderful items our teachers were able to purchase! We’re excited to make this a recurring feature in our newsletter so we can continue sharing the meaningful impact your support has on our classrooms throughout the year.

Mrs. Curnett

These supplies will support our classroom needs, including hanging folders, document holders, magnets, colored pencils, folder tabs, tape, binder clips, paper clips, easel note pads, Sharpies, and double-sided tape, helping keep our classroom organized and ready for learning.

Ms. Genzer

Thank you for supporting our classroom needs. Masking tape is essential for paper mùché, metal embossing, and painting projects, while large flat and round brushes allow students to work successfully with a variety of paints. Condiment squeeze bottles help control paint use, reducing waste and saving money while supporting quality student artwork.

PTCO PTCO

As we close out another wonderful semester, the West PTCO would like to extend a heartfelt THANK YOU to our entire school community.

Whether you volunteered your time, supported events, or contributed financially, your generosity has made a meaningful difference for our students and teachers. Because of you, our school continues to be a vibrant, supportive place for learning and growth.

We are truly thankful for your partnership, enthusiasm, and commitment throughout the year. None of this would be possible without you!

Wishing you and yours a healthy and happy holiday season—may it be filled with joy, rest, and all the little moments that matter.

We look forward to continuing this important work together in the new year!

Warmly,
The West PTCO Board

RIDING THE BUS RIDING THE BUS

User uploaded image

Transportation is required by CDE Regulations to account for all students on the bus and unauthorized passengers are not permitted. However, the Transportation Department recognizes that circumstances may arise, e.g. a family emergency, parents out of town, etc., when a student needs to ride home with another student on a one-time only basis. The student must get off at the assigned stop of the student they are riding with (no exceptions).

Make sure to fill out and turn in the linked Permission Slip to the Campus Admins office no later than 9:00 AM on the requested ride date. Forms can be printed and handed to the Campus Admins Assistant. Hard copies of the form can be picked up from the Campus Admins office if they are needed but must be picked up prior to the day they need to ride a different bus. No emails will be accepted. If there is an emergency, please call the Campus Admins office at 720-554-5155.
