IMPACTing our School for Success - Every Person, Every Day
A message from Mrs. Holloman, Principal🍎
Dear IVES Families,
I want to extend a heartfelt THANK YOU to every member of our IVES community! We were truly humbled by the incredible involvement of our families today during our POWER Forward Day. Our students were mesmerized, engaged, and inspired—thanks to the amazing support of our Colorado Springs community and our IVES parents. We are so grateful!
We have some exciting school news! We are working towards achieving the Purple Star Award as a school. This award recognizes schools that demonstrate a strong commitment to military connect students through ongoing training for staff and student leaders, and military transition programs with support and resources. In the spring of 2025 Colorado passed House Bill 24-1076 to allow schools to receive this honor and help military families readily identify schools with the necessary resources and support for military connected kids. We will keep you posted on our quest for this award as we seek to be a school that supports our military connected students.
A big thank you as well for supporting our November Popcorn Thursday. We raised our highest amount to date, which means our Flyer prize cart will be overflowing with exciting choices for students!
Thank you to all those who participated in our first Flyer Theater Club! This club is a direct response to the request of our families and through dollars raised by our IVES community through last year’s Boosterthon. Our students did an outstanding job and it was truly a joy to see them develop their amazing gifts and talents! Our teachers - Mrs. Green, Mrs. Parsons, Mrs. Roberts and Mr. Brungardt greatly enjoyed leading this program and I am always in awe of their endless commitment to support kids! We know it was a sacrifice for families each day getting kids to the practices. Please know that YOU are making a difference in the lives of our students and we are so THANKFUL for you all!
We also sincerely appreciate the consistent communication we receive from families. Your emails and questions matter to us. Recently, families reached out with thoughtful questions about curriculum, safety, and behavior support. These conversations are always welcome, as they help us understand the needs of our community and grow as a school. Thank you for your partnership.
Speaking of communication, the survey from our last newsletter showed that curriculum and behavior policies were the top topics families wanted to learn more about, with an evening time slot being the most requested. With this feedback in mind, we are adding a Curriculum Walk and Behavior Talk as optional sessions during our Family Arts Night on January 29, 2026. We hope this makes it easier for families to attend and engage.
Thank you also for your flexibility and support regarding the recent District 49 calendar changes.
Please note the following dates:
December 12th is now a regular full school day, 8:30 AM–3:40 PM.
December 19th is our final day before the holiday break and will be a 3-hour early dismissal at 12:40PM for all students.
Also, please note we have a fun SPIRIT Week planned for December 15th-19th.
Finally, thank you for entrusting your children to our care each day. It is an honor we hold deeply. We remain committed to creating the best learning environment possible—one where every student is seen, heard, and loved.
With a heart full of Thanksgiving for each of you,
Pam Holloman

Helpful Information for the Year 📓
Cell Phone Policy:
In accordance with district policy, cell phones and other personal communication devices (to include smart watches) should be kept in students' backpacks and turned off during the school day. These devices should not be used during school hours unless specifically authorized by a teacher for educational purposes. This helps reduce distractions and supports a positive classroom environment.
Please review the Power Zone and Inspiration View Elementary's Cell Phone Policy
Dress Code:
We ask that families help ensure students come to school dressed appropriately. Clothing should be school-appropriate, comfortable for learning and play, and in line with the district dress code. This includes items such as shorts and tank tops, which should provide adequate coverage and support a respectful school atmosphere.
Important Traffic Support Needed
Safety is our first concern. Please follow the signage for right turn only out of the parking lot. We have had several near misses recently and need to ensure the safety of all. Thank you for following the posted signage.
Please do not use the dirt lot to the west of the school as this property is not a parking lot and creates safety concerns when exiting onto Vista Del Pico. Please use the street for parking, the kiss and go lane, or the Inspiration View Elementary parking lot. Thank you!
Attendance:
If your student has an appointment, please be sure to send in a physician's note to the front office so that we can properly code the excused absence in the system. Examples might include, doctor, dentist, etc.).
Should your student be absent, parents must report this absence to the front office with a phone call (719-495-5302) or an email (nicole.prewett@d49.org). Nicole is our Attendance Secretary and is the person who can assist with the call. If you do not report your student's absence, it will be marked as unexcused. Unexcused absences are tracked and reported to D49 truancy. If you have any questions about reporting absences or truancy, please reach out to Jessica Cole (719-495-5307).
