Superintendents' Message

Dear Shoreline Community,

I hope that you all had a Happy Thanksgiving, and are preparing for all of the joyful moments just ahead as we close out 2024 with the varied celebrations of the Holiday Season. This is always one of my favorite times of the year to be in school, with the close of the first semester, and the opportunity to reflect on our progress, take some time to relax and rejuvenate, and then come back fresh in January. We have a lot to be thankful for in Shoreline, and I appreciate the work that we are all doing to collaborate as a community in support of our students.

Below you will find more information about the holiday events that are taking place around the district, as well as ways that you can support those who might need it during the upcoming season. There are ways for you to get involved, learn more about our district, or take advantage of learning opportunities that are available to families and community members. In all, this newsletter outlines the wide variety of ways that you can connect with the Shoreline Community. I hope you find something that intrigues you, and I wish you a very Happy Holiday Season!

In community,

Adam Jennings

Superintendent

Shoreline Unified School District

They lost everything and are currently staying with family while searching for a rental in Bodega Bay to remain close to their work and schools. Their children attend Bodega Bay Elementary and Tomales High. If you are able, please consider making a donation through the link below or sharing their story with your network. Any contribution, no matter the size, can make a difference. Donate Here

Kids Cooking For Life at TES

Kids Cooking For Life promotes lifelong healthy eating and cooking habits by teaching students essential nutrition and culinary skills through hands-on cooking classes. They empower Bay Area kids and teens with the knowledge and tools they need to make healthy choices for their long-term well-being.

Recently, they had the opportunity to cook with middle school students at Tomales Elementary School, where they shared delicious food and explored its cultural history and nutritional benefits. This conversation opens the door for both learning and connection. In one of their recent classes, students made bean and cheese pupusas with cabbage slaw, a dish that quickly became a favorite! One student, whose family is from El Salvador, expressed his excitement at being able to recreate a dish he grew up eating. The true reward comes when students can share and enjoy the meals they've prepared, taking pride in both the process and the delicious results.
