Lutherville Lab Report
What's gone down & what's coming up at the leopards' lair.
October 1, 2021
It was such a pleasure to see much of our community out together for Food Truck Night! Beautiful weather, delicious food, and great people always makes for a good time. Thank you to everyone who came out to support the PTA!
Earlier this week, BCPS sent out a system message to families, "Friday, October 1, 2021, marks the midpoint, or interim date, for the first marking period. Students and families are reminded to check student progress and current levels of performance by logging in to Schoology." Directions for creating a parent account are attached to this newsletter.
I want to share how proud we are of our 4th and 5th graders for working hard on their Early Fall Assessments required by MSDE this year. We have just one more 4th grade session and make-ups ahead of us.
Thank you, also, to everyone for bearing with us through the transportation issues we are enduring at a system level. We will continue to strive to clearly communicate late busses and when they depart school to help families be informed. If you know anyone with a CDL looking for work, we know of openings!
Please see some reminders on arrival and dismissal, below:
Early Arrival: We do not provide supervision for students prior to 9:05 unless they have something pre-arranged, such as a club. Students should not be left unsupervised at Lutherville Lab prior to opening. Hot Spots is our before and after care partner if you need morning care.
Early Dismissal: As shared in the Back to School Transportation Letter, please arrive for early dismissal by 3:45 or earlier. After 3:45, busses are arriving and dismissal procedures are beginning to get underway.
Dismissal: Unfortunately, transportation does not allow us to send students home on busses other than their assigned bus. Thank you for your understanding.
The October lunch menu is attached for your review. I hope all families get to enjoy the beautiful weekend ahead!

Student Clubs Update
Just a reminder that there will be continued opportunities to enroll in clubs. We will continue to advertise club availability as the year progresses and opportunities open.
Coffee with Administrators
We will meet using Google Meets and will get together using this link: https://meet.google.com/kki-atti-ppy
For this first meeting, Mrs. Hart and I will share Lutherville's strategic improvement focal points for the year and structures to achieve them (more on that below). We'll also have an opportunity to discuss questions and concerns generally. This will not be a forum to speak about any individual student issues, but if those are occurring and of concern, please let us know!
Lutherville Strategic Planning
In mathematics, engage in a frequent rhythm of strategic assessment to inform instruction and fill learning gaps that may have developed.
In literacy, utilize scaffolded instructional support and multiple means of representations as well as intervention supports as needed to support students skill acquisition.
For safe and supportive schools, apply a critical lens to expanding representation in our learning materials and implement routines and expectations to nurture cooperative learning.
Our full SPP contains specific professional learning, data points, and additional strategies. Our School Improvement Team meets monthly to assess progress through qualitative feedback from staff and analyzes student data, in addition to what administrators are observing during regular classroom visits.
Additionally, we have developed four Action Teams aligned to our School Progress Plan and key initiatives. These Action Teams also meet monthly to move our work forward
AVID Site Team ensures program implementation to provide teachers with instructional strategies around WICOR (Writing, Inquiry, Collaboration, Organization, and Reading)
Climate Team monitors the implementation of and professional learning around our Schoolwide Positive Behavior Plan.
Equity Team develops professional learning for staff members and awareness, resources, and opportunities for staff to celebrate diverse cultures throughout the year.
Academics & Family Engagement Team monitors the Advanced Academics process, family engagement nights (coming soon!), and student communication about some of our key initiatives here at school.
