The Wildcat Connection
August 18, 2026
We are off to a great start!
A welcome note from the Principal
Dear Wunderlich Families,
At Wunderlich Intermediate, we believe student success is strongest when families, students, and educators work together as one team. As we continue working toward moving our campus from a B to an A, every member of our Wildcat community plays an important role.
One of the most powerful ways families can support this goal is by helping students maintain strong attendance. Every day and every class period matters. When students are present, on time, and ready to learn, they have greater opportunities to stay connected to instruction, participate in meaningful learning, and make continuous academic progress.
We also ask families to partner with us in keeping students accountable for their learning. Talk with your child about assignments, grades, assessments, and academic goals. Encourage them to complete their work, ask questions when they need help, attend tutorials when necessary, and take ownership of their progress.
Most importantly, stay connected with your child’s teachers. Regular communication between families and teachers allows us to celebrate successes, identify concerns early, and work together to determine the best ways to strengthen each student’s academic performance and achievement.
Moving from a B to an A is not simply a campus goal—it is a shared commitment. When our families are connected, our students become stronger, and our entire school community grows.
Thank you for your continued partnership, support, and belief in our Wildcats.
Connected Families. Stronger Students. One Wildcat Community.

Arrival and Dismissal
⏰ EVERY MINUTE MATTERS!
School Hours: 8:55 AM – 4:15 PM
A strong day starts with arriving on time and ready to learn!
🥞 8:30 AM — Students eating breakfast should report to the cafeteria. All other students should report to their designated grade-level morning assembly area.
🔔 8:50 AM — Students are released from morning assembly areas to report to class.
📚 8:55 AM — Instruction begins!
Please help us protect instructional time by ensuring your student arrives at school on time each day.
🚗 Early Checkouts
Please avoid checking students out after 3:30 PM whenever possible. The end of the school day is still valuable instructional time.
🎯 Attendance Matters!!
SHOW UP. BE ON TIME. BE READY.
School Hours: 8:55 AM – 4:15 PM
Every minute of instruction matters. Regular attendance helps students stay connected to their teachers, classmates, and learning.
Students are expected to be in attendance every minute of every day.
Texas compulsory attendance requirements may result in additional interventions or legal action for excessive absences.
If a student exceeds 18 absences during the school year — or 9 days per semester for high school credit courses — additional requirements may be necessary for the student to receive academic credit unless waived by the attendance committee.
🤝 We're Here to Work WITH You!
If attendance becomes a concern, please communicate with us so we can identify barriers and determine how we can support your student.
Strong attendance = Stronger Wildcats! 🐾
📵 PHONES DOWN. MINDS ON.
We want our Wildcats present, connected, and focused on learning.
Students are not permitted to use:
📱 Cell phones
⌚ Smartwatches
🎧 Earbuds, AirPods, or headphones
📲 Other connected electronic devices
This expectation applies throughout the school day, including classrooms, hallways, restrooms, and the cafeteria.
All devices must be powered off and kept out of sight at all times.
❤️💙 Families, thank you for partnering with us to help students stay engaged in their learning and connected to the people around them.
⏱️ 4 MINUTES — LET'S GET THERE, WILDCATS!
TARDY EXPECTATIONS
Students have 4 minutes to transition between classes.
Students are considered tardy if they are not inside their classroom and seated when the tardy bell rings.
A student arriving 15 or more minutes late to class will be recorded absent for that class period.
📋 Tardies Reset Each 9-Week Grading Period
1st–2nd Tardy
⚠️ Warning + Teacher Parent Contact
3rd Tardy
📞 Required Parent Contact + Referral to Grade-Level Assistant Principal for ASD
4th Tardy

The tardy policy applies to every class period.
🐾 Let's work together to help our Wildcats build the habits of being present, being prepared, and being on time!
Lunch Information and Application
Meal Benefits Update for the 2026–2027 School Year
Dear Wunderlich Families,
The Community Eligibility Provision (CEP) program, which previously allowed all students at Wunderlich Intermediate to receive free meals, has ended for the 2026–2027 school year. Families who wish to continue receiving free or reduced-price meals must complete a Meal Benefits Application.
For more information about the CEP update, please visit: www.kisd.us/cep
Families can apply for meal benefits online at:
www.kisd.us/schoolcafe or through the SchoolCafe App.
Thank you for your attention to this important information.
👕 LOOK GOOD. FEEL GOOD. DO GREAT. DRESS FOR EXCELLENCE
At Wunderlich, we want our students to come to school feeling confident and ready to learn.
Students and staff are expected to dress in a way that reflects the high level of excellence we strive for as a learning community.
If a student arrives in clothing that does not meet dress code expectations, a parent/guardian may be contacted and asked to bring appropriate clothing for the student to change into.
Our goal is to prevent students from losing valuable instructional time.
⭐ WHEN IN DOUBT, DON'T WEAR IT!
We want every Wildcat to look good, feel good, and be ready to accomplish great things.
THE WILDCATS WAY!
WILDCATS, Wildcats, Beginning-of-Year (BOY) testing is coming up on August 27 and August 31. Please make sure you are ready to do your best!
Before testing:
- Get a good night’s sleep.
- Eat a healthy breakfast and come to school ready to focus.
- Arrive on time and prepared for the school day.
- Check your Grade-Level Schoology Course for important testing information, schedules, locations, and any additional reminders.
🐾 Take your time, stay focused, and show what you know. You’ve got this, Wildcats!
