Report Cards
Check those books bags!
Report cards were sent home today. You can also review them on the Parent Portal. Please take a moment to review the report card with your child. We kindly ask that you sign the envelope and return it to school, but you may keep the report card for your records. We truly value the partnership between home and school, and your involvement plays a crucial role in your child's success. If you have any questions or concerns about the report card or your child's progress, please don't hesitate to reach out to your child's teacher.
Here are a few suggestions for things you can do at home to support your child's learning:
- Read nightly with your child to foster a love of reading.
- Have them work on Lexia or DreamBox to reinforce their skills.

What it Means to Be a Jefferson Leader
The foundation of our leader environment is built on being Safe, Respectful, and Responsible in all areas of the school. The assembly highlighted specific examples of what this looks like:
In the Hallway: Leaders are Safe by having "Walking feet," "Hands and feet to self," and "Eyes forward". They are Respectful by offering "Friendly smiles or waves" and using a "voice level 0 or 1".They are Responsible when they "Walk with a purpose" and "Take care of all belongings".
In the Cafeteria: Being Safe means eating only your own food and staying in your seat. Being Respectful includes using kind words and raising your hand for help. Being Responsible means keeping the table clean and putting trash directly into the can.
On the Playground: Leaders are Safe by reporting dangerous behavior and using equipment correctly. They are Respectful by sharing equipment and including others. They are Responsible by helping to keep the playground clean and returning equipment to the correct place.
Thank you to all our students, teachers, and families for a successful first quarter. We look forward to seeing our students continue to grow as leaders!
Veterans Day
Plans are underway for our annual Veterans Day Program.
On November 11, at 1:50 p.m., we will celebrate Veterans Day with a special program. We invite any relative or friend of a Jefferson Elementary student who has served, or is currently serving, our country to join us so we can honor them. Veterans are invited to dress in uniform or join us in red, white, and blue attire! During the program, student leaders will share information about Veterans Day, our special guests will be introduced, and the choir will sing a few songs. Veterans are asked to arrive between 1:30 and 1:45. We will invite our guests back to classrooms for informal question-and-answer opportunities after the program.
Visual and Performing Arts Identification
Visual & Performing Arts Gifted Education Identification
Each year, school districts in Ohio are required to offer an opportunity for students in grades K-12 to be identified as gifted in the area of Visual and Performing Arts. The identified areas of giftedness for Visual and Performing Arts include Visual Arts, Vocal Music, Instrumental Music, Drama/Theater, and Dance. If you know of a student that may be gifted in an area of the Visual and Performing Arts (VPA) learn more about the identification process.
Fall Costume Parade
We will be holding a fall costume parade on October 31st at 1:50. Students are permitted to wear school-appropriate costumes for the occasion. When we talk about school-appropriate costumes, we are referring to outfits that adhere to the dress code and guidelines set by the school. These costumes should not be revealing, offensive, bloody, scary, or violent. There are to be no weapons of any kind. Costumes should be respectful and suitable for a school environment, considering the age of the students in the building ranges from 5-year-olds to 11-year-olds.
Parents are invited to join us for the outdoor parade on the back path starting at approximately 1:50. (If it rains, parents will be invited inside to view the modified parade.) Due to the limited time after the parade, teachers will plan activities for their classrooms, including a small, simple snack. Please look for more details from your child's teacher. Parent volunteers will not be needed. (We will also organize parent volunteers for the Valentine's Day party in February. )
**Students will NOT be permitted to sign out early on this day. Dismissal will take place at regular times. We ask Parents to please wait on the front lawn for dismissal.
For families who choose not to have their child participate in the costume parade, alternative options will be available.
On Time Arrival!
Candy Drive
We will be collecting Candy for the Troops! Do you have extra Halloween candy that you would like to donate to the U.S Military? Please send in all of your extra candy to school by November 3 , 2024. We will have a collection bin in the front lobby. We will be partnering with a local organization to ship the candy to US military troops.

Family Facebook Group
Join our Facebook Group and be part of the community.
This group was created for Jefferson families and staff to support and celebrate our students and school. It's also a great place to ask questions of other parents and have support as you navigate the school year.
We are excited to see all the amazing and encouraging ways our families and staff connect with each other! This is a place for positive comments and a helpful resource for families. This is not the place to voice concerns. If you have an issue you would like to discuss, please get in touch with the staff member directly via email or call the school. This is a place to build on the sense of community within our Jefferson Family.
