HES Shark Scoop

June 6, 2025
Dear HES Caregivers,
What a beautiful week we’ve had at HES! Our Sharks have been soaking up the sunshine and warm weather. We are enjoying everything from energetic recesses and exciting field trips to concerts, plays, and final projects that mark the closing of a joyful and productive school year.
As we move into these last weeks, it’s normal to feel a swirl of emotions including excitement, pride, nostalgia, and even a little bit of nervous energy. We’re holding all of it with care as we help your children wrap up the year in meaningful ways.
Next week brings one of our favorite traditions, Field Day! This special event is a highlight for students and staff alike. It’s a time to come together, play, and celebrate the year we’ve shared.
We’re so grateful to all the families who have stepped up to volunteer. We understand that committing to a full day isn’t possible for everyone, and please know that all involvement is appreciated. Our request for full-day volunteers was simply to ensure smooth transitions and consistency across all stations, so that every class experiences the same energy and support throughout the day. Having the same faces at each station helps keep things organized, safe, and fun!
That said, we value and welcome everyone’s participation, in whatever form that takes. Whether you’re helping all day or part of the day, thank you for being part of this memorable event.
As you come in for Field Day or any of our end-of-year events, please take a moment to check the Lost and Found in the front lobby. It’s full of sweatshirts, water bottles, jackets, and more that are looking for their way home. Unclaimed items will be donated to charity after school on Wednesday, June 18.
Thank you, as always, for your continued partnership. We are so grateful for the community we share here at HES, and we look forward to seeing you in the coming days! Enjoy your weekend!
Warm regards,
Christie
Notes From the Health Room
The school year is almost over-one and a half weeks left. We will miss all of the fourth graders as they move to middle school and will look forward to the other grades returning in the fall.
Before we leave for the summer we still need to do a bit of housekeeping. All medications that are stored at the school must be picked up. We are not allowed to store them here over the summer (with the exception of those students who will be attending ESY). Anyone whose child has medications here should have received an email from me recently explaining this. Please plan on picking up your child’s medication between June 16-18th at the nursing office. If you have any problems picking them up, please call the nursing office to discuss an alternative plan. Students are not allowed to carry medications to and from school so an adult must do this.
We are still missing many of the fourth grade physicals which are required before entering middle school. If you have not sent your child’s most recent physical, please email it to hes_nurse@monomoy.edu as soon as possible. Alternatively, you can ask the doctor to fax it to 1-508-744-6387.
As always feel free to reach out to us with any questions or concerns.

Call the Attendance Line If Your Shark Is Absent
Per the handbook, if your child is unable to attend school, please enter the absence in PickUp Patrol and/or call our designated attendance line, 617-848-0115, as early as possible. Soon after arrival, our office staff begins to call the caregivers of absent students if we haven't already heard from them. This is important, as we want to ensure that all students are safe. Your phone message with the reason for the absence is all we need. While an email to the teacher is helpful, it sometimes doesn't make its way to the office staff. Thank you for your help!
Reminder: Complete parent/caregiver engagement survey!
Many thanks to those who have already completed the MRSD parent/caregiver engagement survey! This brief anonymous survey will be used to assist us with future planning for parental involvement activities and events. If you haven't yet shared your feedback, we encourage you to do so before the survey closes June 1, 2025.
