Thank you to those who joined PTA!
(and thanks to those who sponsored our last few spots)
We are now clear to have Monday Fundays (jeans on Mondays)!
YAY!
NEW DISMISSAL ROTATIONS START TUESDAY!
Next Tuesday will mark the beginning of our next rotation for dismissal. If you were a walkie caller, or had a unique role in your dismissal location, look at who your "replacement" will be and take some time to train them or give them the tricks of the trade so that we are ready to go on Tuesday!
24-25 Compensation Statements
The 2024-2025 Total Compensation Statements will be distributed to all employees on October 1, 2024, and will be available for review through Oracle Employee Self-Service. Employees will receive an email from donotreply-gisd-hr@garlandisd.net with instructions for accessing their statement. It will include base pay for the 2024-2025 school year and stipends received and processed by Human Resources as of the September 27th payroll. Employees must review their Total Compensation Statement to identify discrepancies and ensure accuracy.
If you have any questions regarding the distribution of compensation statements, please email us at salary@garlandisd.net.
Want to make an extra $30/hour?
We are seeing more requests for homebound services under Section 504. While it is preferable for the student’s teacher(s) to provide those services, the district is creating a pool of interested teachers in case the need should arise.
- GEH service providers are required to be general education certified teachers.
- GEH services are provided outside of the teacher’s regular contract day on regularly scheduled school days (no holidays or weekends).
- GEH providers receive $30/hour supplemental pay and .67 per mile in mileage reimbursement (calculated as the difference between the teacher’s regular commute and their commute to include the student’s home).
- GEH providers must be available on the parent/student’s schedule and must be willing/able to obligate themselves to provide services (typically 4 hours per week) for the duration of the student’s confinement period. This could mean the remainder of the school year, depending on the individual circumstances.
- GEH services are provided face-to-face in the student’s home.
In these cases, the GEH teacher is not the teacher of record. The classroom teacher(s) are still responsible for providing the same instructional materials for the homebound student as if they were in the classroom. The GEH teacher facilitates that learning in the home with the student and returns all lessons/materials to the teacher of record for grading/recording. The GEH provider is responsible for maintaining a contact log and homebound attendance for PEIMS documentation.
If you are interested in providing GEH services, please complete this Google Form.

Progress Monitoring
Progress monitoring is an important step in determining the effectiveness of instruction and interventions and should be regularly monitored by the classroom teacher or interventionist. The District Progress Monitoring Schedule states progress monitoring windows, which should be used for K-5 Tier 2 students in reading and Dyslexia students in reading. Tier 3 students in reading should be progress monitored in accordance with their mCLASS Burst lessons.
Additionally, K-2 students scoring at the 40th percentile on MAP reading and/or are below and well below benchmark on mClass should receive progress monitoring in mCLASS using the same schedule.
The Elementary Reading, Math, and Newcomer Intervention document indicates the assessments to be used for measuring reading and math proficiency and MTSS progress monitoring for general education and Emergent Bilingual (EB) students. Campus support teachers and interventionists will be able to help teachers with best practices in progress monitoring. Interventionists can also provide support for appropriate documentation.
