Teacher Appreciation Week Teacher Appreciation Week

zoom_out_map

Teacher Appreciation Week is an annual event that takes place during the first full week of May. It is a time to recognize and celebrate the contributions of teachers to education and society. The week is dedicated to honoring the hard work, dedication, and passion that educators bring to their profession.

During this week, students, parents, and communities often express their gratitude through various activities, such as giving cards, gifts, or organizing special events in schools. It serves as a reminder of the significant impact teachers have on their students' lives and the importance of supporting and valuing educators.

The teachers at Endeavor are a unique group of educators that demand success for their students. We are blessed and thankful for our teachers at Endeavor.

National Nurses Week National Nurses Week

National Nurses Week is May 6-12 each year. Since 1972, National School Nurse Day has been set aside to recognize school nurses. National School Nurse Day was established to foster a better understanding of the role of school nurses in the educational setting.

School nurses are more than just healthcare professionals; they support students, providing physical, emotional, and mental health services within the school setting. From administering first aid and managing chronic conditions to promoting healthy habits and offering emotional support, school nurses contribute significantly to students' overall well-being.

Endeavor's nurse is Lauren Nunez. Nurse Nunez graduated from Houston Christian University in 2021 with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing. This is her second year as a nurse and school nurse in Channelview ISD. She loves working and providing care for the community and students.

Professional Development

Mr. Rogers prepared a training opportunity for the Endeavor teachers to learn how to use 3D printing in our classrooms. This presentation and subsequent activities were part of The Channelview ISD Leadership Excellence Advancement Program. He and Mr. Garza and Mrs. Perez have all been participating in this opportunity provided by CISD. Mr. Rogers did a fantastic job talking about 3d printing and had take-aways for each department. He walked teachers through a lesson he used in his English class and everyone learned a lot. Now we just have to get Channelview ISD to get us all 3d printers!! If you know anyone, contact Mr. Sims.

Endeavor High School Accountability Rating: A Endeavor High School Accountability Rating: A

zoom_out_map

In Texas, schools are rated on an A-F scale based on their performance in student achievement, school progress, and closing achievement gaps. These ratings, also known as accountability ratings, are released annually by the Texas Education Agency (TEA). The ratings are intended to provide information to parents, school boards, and the public about how well schools are performing.

A-F Scale:

Schools receive letter grades from A to F based on their overall performance.

Student Achievement:

This assesses how well students are performing on state standardized tests and whether they are college and career ready.

School Progress:

This evaluates how much students are improving on state tests over time.

Closing the Gaps:

This focuses on how well schools are supporting specific groups of students, such as students with disabilities and English language learners.

Data Sources:

The ratings are based on data from state assessments, graduation rates, and other relevant metrics.

Endeavor High School has once again earned the distinction of being an A rated campus. Endeavor is one of only six alternative education high schools in Harris County to earn this rating. Only 83 alternative education schools state-wide earned an A rating. There are 371 AEC campuses state wide as of April 19, 2024.

Below is a 10 mile radius of alternative educational campuses similar to Endeavor High School and their campus rating.

Like the staff at Endeavor, the STAAR test scores can't get here soon enough. That's literally the issue. Graduation is May 16th. We do not expect STAAR scores to be available by then. ALL students who have finished their High School courses and are waiting for scores can walk at graduation.

Once the scores are available to us, we will contact you and your child. If your child has passed, they do not need to do anything else. If they did not pass, we will discuss what steps need to take place in order for your child to officially graduate.

We're Moving! We're Moving!

It was proposed to the CISD board of trustees that Endeavor High School be relocated to the McMullan campus.

This alternative has several benefits:

  • Room to Grow: Endeavor High School has experienced increased interest and maintains an average waitlist of 60 students. Relocating to McMullan will allow our program to grow and better serve our students.
  • Increased Capacity: Approximately 25 classrooms could be dedicated to Endeavor, significantly expanding our space from the 10 classrooms we currently use at Joe Frank Campbell Learning Center.
  • Cost-Effective: Since the building would still serve school-aged students, no fire marshal permit change is required, and no major renovations would be needed.

The Board approved this revised plan at their April 15, 2025 Board meeting. We will continue to keep families informed as the project progresses.

Thank you for your continued support and engagement as we work to create stronger, more efficient learning environments for all students in Channelview ISD. The Endeavor staff is excited for the upcoming change! We will begin the 2025 -2026 school year on the McMullan campus.

Summer Letter Summer Letter

zoom_out_map

During the summer, all parents of continuing students will receive a letter that will summarize their child's academic progress this past school year at Endeavor. As it was discussed during the initial parent/student meeting, Endeavor is a campus for students who want to help themselves. Students are given an opportunity to regain lost credits and/or get caught up or ahead of their original graduating class. Many students were denied the opportunity to attend Endeavor this past year due to increased enrollment. There are a number of students who are waiting to come to Endeavor next year.

Students who were chronically absent or did not work effectively to earn credit will be reassigned to Channelview High School for the 2025 -2026 school year. Your child's school assignment for next year will be indicated in the summer letter along with their summary.

PURPOSE & MISSION STATEMENT

SPED P.E.P. Parents will learn to be advocates for their students, their families, and themselves! P.E.P. meetings will be a catalyst that nurtures more open communication and collaboration with the Channelview ISD SPED Department, teachers, and administrators - With the overarching goal to help SPED parents get the answers and help that their child and family needs! Meeting coordinators will act as liaisons for connecting families to the right contact at the SPED Department AND as a resource for finding other contacts they might need for supplemental support inside the home (beyond what Channelview ISD can provide). Families will also be encouraged to share their stories during parent-led therapeutic “support group” style sessions at the end of each meeting - Where SPED parents can also become P.E.P. Heroes by volunteering their time to help other SPED parents at home!

DAILY MEETING AFFIRMATIONS

We are here to become better advocates for ourselves and for

our families.

We promise to believe in our kids and their special strengths.

We promise to give ourselves the same grace we give our kids.

We promise to give ourselves permission to cry.

But we also promise to give ourselves permission to SHINE!

What is the ACT/SAT test?

Both the SAT and the ACT are nationally administered, standardized tests that help schools evaluate your application and see how prepared you are for college courses. The SAT and ACT generally cover the same topics. Both ACT and SAT scores are used for college admissions decisions and awarding merit-based scholarships. Most colleges do not prefer one test over the other. Neither the SAT nor ACT is harder than the other. Different students tend to do better on one test than the other.
