CELEBRATING CENTENNIAL CELEBRATING CENTENNIAL

The 10th Annual Behind the Lens Film Festival

The 10th Annual Behind the Lens Film Festival was a night to remember, celebrating a decade of student storytelling and cinematic achievement. The event featured a red carpet entrance, alumni returning to honor the program’s legacy, and a showcase of outstanding films created by students from our middle schools and high school. From powerful narratives to innovative shorts to comedies, each film reflected the passion and creativity of our young filmmakers. The evening featured awards recognizing excellence in directing, editing, cinematography, and more—shining a spotlight on the voices behind the lens.

What a night!

The 10th Annual Behind the Lens Film Festival rolled out the red carpet for student filmmakers, proud alumni, and a packed house of film lovers. Middle and high school students wowed the audience with original films, and awards were presented for excellence in directing, editing, and cinematography. Here's to ten years of storytelling!

A standing ovation has been earned by grade 7 filmmakers in the “Lights! Camera! Action!” class. Students used special effects and advanced editing secrets to produce a short film depicting an illusion of magic. Three of the student films were selected as finalists in the “10th Annual Behind the Lens Film Festival,” which is a judged event open to schools in the Philadelphia area. Three LCMS student films were chosen as finalists, with the overall prize being awarded to Caroline and HunterRaye’s production of “The Magic Doodle.” The entire LCMS community is proud of what these creative and collaborative scholars have accomplished and we celebrate their achievements.

Let’s hope they remember us, when they make it big in Hollywood!

WT Seniors Shine in Prestigious NAfME All-Eastern Honor Choir

Seniors Dakota Landis and Leah Stever continue to excel musically, adding to their impressive list of accomplishments. From April 24-27, 2025, they participated in the NAfME (National Association for Music Education) All Eastern Choir in Hartford, CT. There, they joined 180 students from Maine to Maryland, rehearsing and performing under the direction of choral maestro Dr. Anton Armstrong from St. Olaf College.

The journey to this honor is rigorous. Each year, Pennsylvania high school musicians audition at the district level, with top performers advancing to compete at the PMEA (Pennsylvania Music Educators Association) Region level. The highest-ranking students qualify for Pennsylvania All-State ensembles, making them eligible for NAfME All Eastern ensembles the following year. Dakota and Leah earned their spots through a state-wide audition which earned them a spot in the 2024 PMEA All State A Cappella Ensemble, which performed in Erie last April.

In addition to this achievement, Leah was selected for the 2025 PMEA All State A Cappella Ensemble, performing in Pocono Manor, PA from April 9-11.

Dakota and Leah will be performing with the rest of their talented senior class in their final WT concert next thursday, May 8 at 7pm. Admission is free if you'd like to send off the class of 2025 and hear some great and fun vocal music!

The GIANT Company today announced its Feeding School Kids initiative, in partnership with its customers, raised more than $1.2 million to address food insecurity throughout local public school districts in the communities it serves.

“Studies have shown a direct correlation between good nutrition and a student’s ability to learn, which is why our Feeding School Kids initiative is so important in helping local public school districts eliminate hunger,” said Jennifer Scott, vice president, chief human resources and community relations officer, The GIANT Company. “Together with our customers and team members, we have raised more than $8.5 million over the past five years to ensure students can focus on learning and not worrying about where their next meal may come from.”
