Dear Husky Families! πΎ
As we move into February, we have so much to celebrate and look forward to! We kick off this month with our much-anticipated Band Concert! We are incredibly proud of our basketball teams for their hard work and determination this seasonβthey truly embody school spirit and teamwork. Thank you to our athletes and coaches!
This month, our Huskies will also be participating in Jump Rope for Heart, promoting physical activity, perseverance, and giving back to an important cause.
As we begin the second term, junior high students are exploring new CTF courses that offer fresh opportunities for learning and growth! Learner Profiles will also be going home soon, providing valuable insight into your childβs progress and achievements. Please reach out to your child's teacher if you have questions.
We are hosting our first EVENING SCHOOL COUNCIL MEETING on Feb. 9, 2026 @ 6:00pm.
Thank you for your continued support and partnership. We look forward to all the wonderful moments ahead this second term!

School Attendance π€©
At Heritage Heights School, we value regular attendance as an important foundation for student success. When students attend consistently, they are better able to build knowledge, strengthen skills, and stay connected to classroom learning, routines, and collaborative experiences with their peers.
Regular attendance also supports strong friendships, a sense of belonging, and positive emotional well-being. Being present each day helps students feel confident, engaged, and supported in their learning journey. When students miss school frequently, it can become more challenging to keep up academically and socially, which may impact confidence and overall progress.
Because attendance plays such a vital role in student growth and achievement, we carefully monitor attendance patterns. When a studentβs absentee rate exceeds 10%, we will connect with parents or guardians to work together in supporting regular attendance and identifying any barriers. Our goal is to partner with families to ensure every student has the opportunity to thrive.
School Improvement πͺ
Each year, we write an education plan that aligns with the division goals in three main areas: ENGAGEMENT, SUPPORT and SUCCESS.
Our plan for the year can be found here: Heritage Heights School School Education Plan 2024-2029 Year 2
We need parents to complete this important survey to guide our work. The link has been sent to families! Thank you!
Ways we are meeting our goals!
Engagement
We have set up the (round table), and families are welcome to add topics. We have two responses and will set a topic for this month. If the topic is of interest to you, please join us for an informal, solution-based discussion. Details to follow.
- We invited Mrs. Sam Smith, Paul Davis and Elder SaaβKokoto to share their expertise in the school. Building on community experts is valuable for all of us.
We completed our first two quadrants of options and CTF courses. Students who completed level 1 courses can now access the next level to increase their skills in areas they enjoy.
Last year, we surveyed students for feedback on the option/CTF courses they enjoyed and some they would like to experience. We will survey again and use their feedback.
Support
Open this link to know what supports are available in the school: https://www.foothillsschooldivision.ca/heritageheights/student-supports
We use an intensive model to support student learning. Students are identified through data sources, teacher observations, and parent conversations. Groups are created to target specific skills in intensive learning sessions.
We use Restorative Practices to guide students when relationships need repair. This includes student-to-student and student-to-teacher guided conversations.
Success
Increased literacy intervention for students in grades 1-6. Our educational assistants work with small groups of students daily to boost skills.
Increased small group interventions in grades 7-9 to support math and literacy skills.
Increased in opportunities for student leadership across all grades.
