Bellerive Bulletin
October 5, 2025
Dear Bellerive Families,
Our focus this month is Habit 2: Begin With the End in Mind. This habit is all about having a vision and setting goals. Leaders know where they’re headed and make choices today that help them reach tomorrow’s goals.
At Bellerive, students are practicing Habit 2 by:
-
Setting goals in their Leadership Binders.
-
Thinking about the kind of person and leader they want to be.
-
Planning ahead instead of just reacting in the moment.
Families can support this habit at home by encouraging children to set small goals, like finishing a book by the end of the week or saving for something they would like to buy. Talk with your child about your own family goals, (i.e. planning a trip, saving for something important, or making healthier choices). We also hope you will complete the "Habits at Home" activity that will be sent home with your child on Wednesday.
When students learn to “begin with the end in mind,” they discover that their daily actions make a difference and help shape their future.
In partnership,
Joey Kneer

SEL Survey
As part of our ongoing commitment to student well-being, Parkway administers two social-emotional learning (SEL) surveys to students in grades 3–12. Your child will complete this 10-15 minute survey during regular school hours during the windows of September 22 through October 17 and March 13 through April 17. (Bellerive students will complete the first survey the week of October 6.)
Even though students in kindergarten through second grade do not take this survey, their teachers will complete a brief perception survey (as teachers at all grade levels do) to provide additional insight into their social-emotional strengths and growth areas.
This research-based survey helps us better understand how students are feeling about school, relationships, and learning so we can more effectively support their success. You will receive information about your child’s results later in the fall.
All survey responses are confidential and are only accessed by authorized school personnel. The data is never shared with outside parties and is not used to diagnose or label students.
To review questions that will appear on the survey, there is an FAQ page that also provides additional information requested by some parents last year. If you have questions or concerns, please contact Dr. Erin Schulte-Hamilton, Parkway's Coordinator of Counseling and Character Education, via eschulte@parkwayschools.net.
Thank you for your continued partnership in supporting every student's growth and success.
NEW INFO
Before-School Clubs Begin Monday, October 13
Club assignments were sent home last week.
The notification papers included the name and date of the club(s) your child will be participating in.
Reminders
- Please DO NOT drop off students before 7:55 am as coverage is not available.
- Students will be expected to follow all Bellerive behavior expectations to remain in before-school clubs.
- Attendance is important. Because many students wish to participate, if your child misses more than three sessions, we may need to offer their spot to another student.
- No clubs will be held the week of November 3rd due to conferences.
- The last week of clubs will be February 23, 2026.
If you have any questions about clubs, please email Ashley Jelovic at ajelovic2@parkwayschools.net.
Conference Sign-Ups Coming Soon
Student-led conferences are the week of November 3, and conference night is Thursday, November 6. The online sign-up link will be published in next week's Bellerive Bulletin.
PTO Fundraising Update
We're making great progress toward our goal and want to reach the $7,000 mark by Fall break on Monday, October 20th!
We are so grateful for the many families who have already supported the PTO’s Champions for Children fundraiser! This is one of the PTO’s biggest fundraisers of the year, and it replaces the need to sell items like wrapping paper, candy, or popcorn. Because this takes the place of those sales, we’re asking for your help in spreading the word.
Please consider forwarding this message to grandparents, aunts, uncles, neighbors, and friends. Encourage them to give in place of being asked to purchase something!

Daily Attendance = Big Impact
Did You Know?
A day of missed school is a lost opportunity for social development. By coming to school every day they’re not sick, your child is gaining social skills that will land them their first job as an adult.
