August Students of the Month!
We work hard at Thomson to teach and reinforce the Cardinal Code behavior expectations in all areas of the building. We wanted to create a way to recognize students that consistently follow the Cardinal Code in an exemplary way.
Each month classroom teachers will nominate one student from their class to be STUDENT of the MONTH. Each student of the Month will receive a certificate, medal, and their photo will be on display in the hallway during that month.
We are pleased to recognize students for consistently demonstrating excellent behavior. Thank you for sharing your outstanding children with us. I am pleased to announce our Students of the Month for August were:

Thomson Walk-a-Thon! 👟
Walk-a-Thon! FRIDAY, OCTOBER 3rd!
Get ready for our annual Thomson Walk-a-Thon, a PTO-sponsored event! Weather permitting, the Walk-a-Thon will be held outside at the Cardinal Stadium Track. All students will have the chance to walk around the track and show their Thomson Teddy spirit.
Each student will receive their very own Thomson Teddy neon shirt to wear on the day of the event. A note was sent home on a green half-sheet of paper asking you to circle your child's shirt size. If you have not done so yet, please be sure to send the note back to school.
Parents and family members are warmly invited to join us and cheer on the students. You can support the Thomson Teddies by sitting in the bleachers or standing on the outside of the fenced areas.
We look forward to seeing you there and making this event a fun and memorable day for everyone!
**REMINDER: If you are chosen to volunteer by the classroom teacher, you will need a volunteer form on file with the school. Please call the office at (810) 591-0911 if you have any questions.

Fun to Be Fit! ⚽🏀🏈
Hi families!
Hi families, my name is Mrs. Lints and I am your child's physical education teacher. I have been working at Thomson Elementary since 2009, teaching GSRP, kindergarten, and developmental kindergarten. This will be my fifth year teaching physical education, and it is my all-time favorite!
Your child will learn many things this year and will be introduced to many physical activities as well as teamwork and body/spatial awareness. I cannot stress enough the importance of your child wearing tennis shoes on their designated class day. Please review your child's schedule to ensure their success in class. Crocs, sandals, and boots do not make good running shoes. I am looking forward to this year and working with your children. Remember, a body in motion stays in motion!"
Happy Reading!📚📖📘
Welcome to the Thomson Library! We have so many fun activities planned for the school year. Each week, your child will visit the library and be able to check out a book of their choice. You can find your child's library day listed below.
Each month, we'll meet new characters and go on fantastic adventures. To start the year, we'll focus on how to care for our library books by reading "Never Let a Ghost Borrow Your Library Book" by Karen Casale and "I Got the School Spirit" by Connie Schofield-Morrison.
Since it's that time of year when the "back-to-school bug" is going around, we'll also read "Germs vs. Soap" by Didi Dragon, "Sick Simon" by Dan Kroll, and "A Germs Journey" by Thom Rooke to help prevent the spread of germs.
I am so excited for this spectacular journey we will be taking together!
If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me at aclemons@davisionschools.org.
💻 STEM Class!
Hello Thomson Families,
I am Ms. Wendy Lockrey and I teach STEM at both Thomson and Central Elementary. This year, I'll be at Central in the mornings and Thomson in the afternoons, and I will see each class once a week for STEM class.
In my class, students will use STEM bins with manipulatives to build and practice their engineering skills. In other words, we play! Students will also use Chromebooks with educational websites. I'll share these websites with you each month so that students can use them at home as well, if they choose. They are fun and, best of all, free!
I look forward to meeting and getting to know your Thomson Teddies this year. Because I travel between two schools every day, the best way to contact me is by email at: wlockrey@davisonschools.org.
I'm looking forward to a great year!
Ms. Lockrey
