Principal's Message

Progress reports were mailed on Friday and if your child received one, they should be arriving in the next day or so. You can also check grades in AERIES now. If your child's teacher marked on the progress report that you should reach out to them, you can email the teacher and either schedule a meeting in the near future or make arrangements to talk during Parent/Teacher conference times. Parent-Teacher conferences will take place on October 16 from noon to 6:00 pm. Spanish interpreters will be available also. The conference is meant for students that are struggling and in danger of failing. Both October 15 and 16 are minimum days.

We are eagerly waiting for the new track and field project to finish. It looks like the girl's flag football team will be the first team to break in the new facility. Even though we will be able to use the field, there will still be construction and work being completed for the immediate surrounding area. A new entrance needs to be constructed and landscaping needs to be finished.

As the holiday season approaches and you know you will be traveling please make sure to contact the office for a short term independent studies application. This application must be turned in at least 5 work days prior to leaving. Students can be approved to miss 5 to 15 days and can receive their assignments prior to leaving. Tests can be made up after returning. A separate email will be sent out with clear directions.

Students that ride skateboards, bicycles, and e-bikes must be sure to obey the law while riding on streets. I remind students often that curbs are meant for pedestrians. I also see many students without helmets. Please be sure to remind your children to ride on the right side of the road and in the bicycle lane. Students must walk their rides once they arrive on campus.

Event Information
Hawktoberfest

On October 30, we will have our annual Hawktoberfest. It is a minimum day and the event will take place after school. This is a Halloween themed carnival that includes a haunted house, carnival games, and treats. Students will be able to purchase tickets during lunch for the events that week. Tickets cost 50 cents and students should not spend more than $10. There will be an exclusion list for students who have excessive tardies, truancy, and poor behavior. Students should buy the tickets prior to the day of the carnival due to long lines. There will be games available at no cost also. Prices for snacks and games will be shared as the date approaches. School will let out at 11:25. Students must have signed permission slips to attend. Students will report to the track and do some activities before Hawktoberfest starts. Haawktoberfest will start at noon and end at 1:15 pm. Students must be picked up as soon as the festival ends. Be on the lookout for an email from our Activities Director, Mr. Varela, for the opportunity to volunteer to help with the Hawktoberfest.
