CAASPP Testing Wraps Up This week!
April 28, 2025
Dear Monsoon Students and Families,
As we move into the final stretch of the school year, we want to encourage everyone to stay focused and committed to academic success. Remember: Keep the main thing, the main thing! Your hard work, perseverance, and dedication have brought you this far — now is the time to finish strong.
With testing and final assignments approaching, managing stress is just as important as staying focused. Here are some strategies to help:
-
Stay Organized: Use a planner or digital calendar to keep track of assignments, test dates, and deadlines.
-
Set Daily Goals: Break down your studying into smaller, manageable tasks and set realistic goals each day.
-
Practice Mindfulness: Take a few minutes each day to breathe deeply, meditate, or practice gratitude.
-
Stay Active: Regular exercise — even a quick walk — can boost your mood and energy levels.
-
Get Enough Rest: Prioritize sleep to help your brain retain information and manage stress.
-
Stay Connected: Talk to friends, family, or a trusted adult when you need support.
-
Take Breaks: Short, scheduled breaks during study sessions can improve focus and productivity.
Helpful Resources:
-
Free mindfulness app: Insight Timer
-
Study tools: Khan Academy and Quizlet

Remember, you are not alone — your teachers, counselors, and school staff are here to support you every step of the way. Let’s finish the year with focus, strength, and Monsoon pride!
We've got this!
Warm regards,
Sean Diaz
Proud Principal

Meet The Administrators
Each newsletter, we will be showcasing one of our school administrators. This week, we would like to showcase Sean Diaz, who serves as our Mayfair principal.
Dear Mayfair Community,
It is with great enthusiasm and a deep sense of commitment that I introduce myself as an administrator at Mayfair Middle/High School. My name is Sean Ricardo Diaz, and I bring over two decades of experience in public education, leadership, and student support to our vibrant school community.
I have had the privilege of serving in various roles across Southern California, from teaching English and coaching at the high school level, to leading student services and instructional programs as an assistant principal in districts such as Upland, Glendora, and Tustin. These experiences have shaped my passion for fostering inclusive, student-centered environments and driving academic excellence through innovation, collaboration, and compassion.
One of the highlights of my educational career has been leading initiatives that significantly improved student attendance, academic engagement, and emotional well-being—outcomes I see mirrored in the incredible accomplishments Mayfair has achieved this past year. From our 98% graduation rate and increased CAASPP growth across subjects, to the success of our new block schedule and a thriving student-centered campus culture, Mayfair is a place where both excellence and equity are deeply rooted.
In my role, I look forward to supporting our ongoing efforts in expanding college and career readiness, enhancing student wellness, and celebrating the many talents of our Monsoon students—from academic achievement and athletics to visual and performing arts. I’m especially excited about initiatives like the Principal’s Student Cabinet, the SOONS Stop and Shop, and the groundbreaking partnerships with LACOE and local community organizations that are strengthening our support systems and broadening opportunities for all students.
Above all, I am here to serve. Whether it's supporting a family, collaborating with staff, or championing student voice, I believe in the power of relationships and shared purpose. Together, we can continue to build on the proud legacy of Mayfair and ensure every student thrives—academically, socially, and emotionally.
Please know that my door is always open. I look forward to meeting you on campus, in the classroom, or at one of our many amazing events.
With gratitude and Monsoon pride,
Sean Ricardo Diaz

Minga
Mayfair Middle/High School students will utilize the app called Minga as a digital ID card. The app enables staff to create hall passes, reward students for doing well and helping others, and the digital ID card will help students have an easier time entering or leaving campus. The digital ID has a "live" interface, with a running digital clock and a moving background, thus preventing students from using a screenshot [Screenshots of ID are not permitted]. Students will utilize their school email (via Google) to log in. The app is safe to use, uses very little data, and doesn't require access to any of the information stored on your phone. If your child does not have a smartphone, don't worry - they will receive a printed ID card as well. Click here to access a quick document that shows you how to log into your school's Minga account.
