How to Translate the Weekly Roar
When you open the Weekly Roar, locate the "Translate" button and click on it. It will allow you to translate the newsletter into 90 different languages. Culver City Rotary Donates Dictionaries to 3rd Graders 📚📖
Members of the Culver City Rotary Club visited our school last month to deliver a personal dictionary to each of our 3rd graders, courtesy of The Culver City Rotary Community Foundation.
This is an annual initiative with the goal of helping our students understand the power of words, discover new ideas, and become better readers and writers.
The dictionaries also include over 150 pages of other information including the Constitution of the U.S., the Declaration of Independence, biographies of all of the U.S. presidents, world maps, and information about all 50 states, countries of the world and planets in our solar system, sign language, Braille and the longest word in the English language.
The Culver City Rotary Club hopes our students will use and enjoy these books!
Halloween Parade 9:00
We will be holding our annual costume parade on Friday, October 30th, at 9a.m. Students will walk a large loop around our playground. Students are invited to wear a costume, but if they choose not to, they will still be able to participate in the parade. Any student not wishing to wear a costume and not wishing to participate in the parade will have the opportunity to listen to a story in the library for a special story time. Parents are allowed on campus (Parent directions below).
Costume guidelines:
No Costume masks may be worn to and during school. If your child can see out of it, they can wear it during the parade only.
No face make-up
Students must show respect for other students by not choosing costumes that are insensitive and/or offensive to the diverse background represented by La Ballona students and families.

No weapons of any kind. (No fake guns, swords, knives, etc.)
No fake blood or other substances allowed.
Students will be allowed to wear wigs, hats and accessories during the parade, but must be removed if causing a distraction during class time.
After the parade, it will be a regular instructional day. Your child may stay in their costume IF the costume is easy to sit and learn in. If the costume impedes school learning, please bring a change of clothes for the school day.

Families are welcome to come to watch our parade on campus.
We will section off areas for parents to stand.
All parents may enter through the Back Gate 1.

Desfile de Halloween 9:00
Tendremos nuestro desfile anual de disfraces el viernes, 30 de octubre a las 9 a.m. Los estudiantes caminarán alrededor de nuestro patio de recreo en un gran círculo. Los estudiantes están invitados a usar un disfraz, pero si deciden no hacerlo, aún podrán participar en el desfile. Cualquier estudiante que no desee usar un disfraz y no desee participar en el desfile tendrá la oportunidad de escuchar una historia en la biblioteca durante un tiempo especial de cuentos. Los padres pueden estar en el campo de juego (instrucciones para padres a continuación).
Pautas de vestuario:
No se pueden usar máscaras de disfraces para y durante la escuela. Si su hijo puede ver fuera de él, solo puede usarlo durante el desfile.
No podrán usar maquillaje facial.
Los estudiantes deben mostrar respeto por los demás estudiantes al no elegir disfraces que sean insensibles y/u ofensivos para las diversas culturas representados por los estudiantes y las familias de La Ballona.
Los estudiantes deben mostrar respeto a otros estudiantes al no tocar, desfigurar o insultar los disfraces de otros estudiantes.
Sin armas de ningún tipo. (No armas falsas, espadas, cuchillos, etc.)
No se permite sangre falsa u otras sustancias.
Los estudiantes podrán usar pelucas, sombreros y accesorios durante el desfile, pero deben quitárselos si causan una distracción durante la clase.
Después del desfile, será un día de instrucción regular. Su hijo puede quedarse con su disfraz si el disfraz es fácil de sentarse y aprender con el. Si el disfraz impide el aprendizaje escolar, traiga un cambio de ropa para el día escolar.

Las familias pueden venir a ver nuestro desfile en el campus.
Seleccionaremos áreas para que los padres se paren.

Students can share what culture means to them through dance, film, music, photography, literature, or visual arts.
Parents, please help your student submit their application through the Google Drive form.
