5 Essentials Parent Survey
We want to hear from you! Each year, our staff, parents, and students take the 5Essentials Survey to show us how we are doing. This feedback is extremely helpful for us to make improvements as a school. Please take the 5 Essentials Survey before March 13th. You should take this survey for each school you have students attending, and not just once for the district.http://survey.5-essentials.org/illinois/survey/parent/

Open House for Stella May Swartz
Erin's Law - Friday March 6, 2026
Erin’s Law, House Bill 6193 was signed by Governor Pat Quinn on January 24, 2013. This law requires schools to implement an age-appropriate sexual assault and abuse awareness and prevention curriculum for grades pre-K through 12. It is recommended that four communications a year on Erin’s Law be made available to all students, often through social-emotional instruction and/or contact with the school social worker.
Victor Pacini, a survivor of sexual abuse, author, and motivational speaker, will be assisting our schools in implementing this mandate. Mr. Pacini’s program is developmentally appropriate, interactive, and aligned with learning standards. The focus of his presentation is to teach children basic skills to keep them safe from dangerous or abusive situations. The concepts that will be discussed are:
• Distinguishing safe from unsafe touches
• Safety rules at home and school
• Saying “NO”
• Safe/Unsafe Secrets
• It’s not the child’s fault if someone touches him or her
• Telling a trusted adult
Mr. Pacini and his colleague, Deanna Hynes, will be presenting at our schools on Friday, March 6th. Each grade level will participate in an assembly for approximately 30 minutes. The content can be previewed here:https://www.childhoodvictories.com/offers/qmjwe83e/checkout
Requests to Opt-Out: If you prefer that your child opt-out of this prevention education session, please fill out this form: https://forms.gle/sn3HWtkkcBrutBuw7
School Hours and Punctuality- Don't Be LATE!
Attention Parents - School doors open at 7:30 am. There is no staff supervision prior to this time. Classes start at 7:40 am.
Students who come in late find it harder to establish a good morning routine at school. Teachers are beginning instruction, and a late student is missing out. Thank you for your assistance in making sure your students arrive at school on time!
Please Sign the Annual Student & Family Handbook Acknowledgement
Each year, families are asked to review the Student & Family Handbook, which outlines important policies, procedures, and expectations for the school year. The 2025–2026 handbook is now available, and all families must acknowledge receipt by signing in to Skyward.
Please log in to Skyward and complete the handbook acknowledgement as soon as possible.
Steps:
1. Once you log into Skyward, you will see a tile with the 2025-2026 District 48 Family and Student Handbook.
2. Click the green Start button.
3. Download the handbook or use this link to preview the handbook.
4. Click "I agree" and sign and date.
