MESSAGE FROM PRINCIPAL BANKS
Dear Eagles,
As we move further into the final stretch of the school year, I want to take a moment to recognize the incredible efforts of our students, staff, and families. Spring is a season full of energy, growth, and anticipation—and with that comes the opportunity to finish the year strong by maintaining a steady focus on our goals.
Together, let’s continue to support our students in giving their best effort, both in the classroom and beyond. These last few weeks are a chance to reinforce strong habits, celebrate growth, and stay committed to learning. Whether it’s preparing for final projects or demonstrating leadership in daily routines, every moment counts.
This season also brings some of the most inspiring events of the year—our spring recitals and concerts. These performances are a powerful expression of student skills, talents, creativity, and hard work. I encourage everyone to attend and cheer on our talented students as they share what they’ve been working so passionately on. Your presence and support mean the world to them.
As part of our commitment to listening and growing as a school community, we are also asking students to complete the Cultivate Student Voice Survey by the April 25 deadline. This is an important opportunity for students to share their perspectives and help shape the future of our school. Please encourage your students to take part if they haven’t already.
Let’s finish this year with the same energy, care, and collaboration that have carried us thus far.
Onward and upward,
~Principal Banks

BHT Sleep Awareness Campaign
Did You Miss the Sleep Awareness Event? On Monday, April 7th, the Behavioral Health Team hosted a Sleep Awareness Event during lunch. Over 150 students filled out a Sleepiness Inventory (average score: 46/80, meaning we’re more tired than we think!). Students shared what keeps them up (phones were the #1 reason) and what helps them sleep (music and cold beds/pillows were the most popular strategies).
Everyone who took the survey was entered into a raffle to win a sleep gift bag with awesome items like a cloud night light, satin pillowcases, a sleep journal, fuzzy socks, and a sound machine. Thanks to all who joined! Keep taking care of yourselves—and getting that rest!
Attendance Matters
Our week 30 attendance ended with 91.33%. Seniors with under 90% attendance will have mandatory meetings to discuss upcoming participation in senior events. The attendance policy is included here. Feel free to email Mr. Hayes, our attendance coordinator, if there are questions about your attendance, bdhayes2@cps.edu.
