“The world’s favorite season is the spring. All things seem possible in May.” – Edwin Way Teale

May is here and we are entering the final stretch of the school year with energy, reflection, and excitement for all that is still to come 🌼

At Prospect we are grateful for our students, families, and staff whose commitment and care continue to strengthen our community as we move toward a strong and meaningful end to the year.

SBAC Testing

📅 May 4th - May 22nd, 2026

ℹ️State testing (SBAC – Smarter Balanced Assessment) will take place from May 4th–22nd. This statewide online test in Science, English Language Arts (ELA), and Math helps teachers understand student growth in skills like reading, writing, and math. It is not a pass or fail test, just an opportunity for students to show what they know.

Testing Schedule (begins at 8:30 a.m. daily):

  • May 4th–8th: English Language Arts (ELA)
  • May 11th–15th: Math
  • May 18th–22nd: Science (5th grade only)

We encourage all students to arrive on time each day so they can feel calm, prepared, and ready to do their best.

How families can support:
Make sure students get a good night’s rest, eat a healthy breakfast, and arrive at school on time. A little encouragement goes a long way in helping students feel confident and ready!

Teacher Appreciation Week

📅 May 4th - May 8th, 2026

ℹ️Teacher Appreciation Week is coming, and we’d love your help showing our amazing teachers how much they mean to us!

We are inviting families to sign up to bring a food item or beverage to help treat our staff throughout the week. Your support will help make this a special and memorable celebration for those who do so much for our students every day.

👉 Sign up in person (Front Office or Prospect Community Center), online, or through our Amazon Wishlist - items can be delivered directly to our school!

For questions, please contact Esmeralda Garcia at esmeralda.garcia@orangeusd.org.

Thank you for being part of our school community and helping us celebrate our incredible teachers!

Please take a few minutes to complete the survey. Your feedback will be shared with Prospect’s School Site Council to help guide decisions around programs, supports, and budget priorities that impact EL students.

Thank you for your time and partnership in helping us build a stronger, more connected school community.
