Happy October! 🌟 We have an exciting month ahead filled with opportunities for our students and families, including Open House, Intersession, Trunk or Treat, Red Ribbon Week and so much more!

If you haven’t already, please take a moment to review our October Family Newsletter for important dates, updates, and reminders! Please also be sure to consistently check your child's Red Roadrunner Folder for additional important communication coming home from school.

📌 Attendance & Tardy Reminder:

• Our school day begins promptly at 7:50 AM, and consistent attendance is key to student success. Every minute and every day counts!
• Students who arrive after 7:55 AM will receive a tardy slip and sent to class.
• Parents/guardians dropping off students after 7:55 AM will receive a Parent Tardy—a friendly reminder of our start time.
• Students arriving at 8:05 AM or later must be signed in by a parent/guardian at the front office.

PTA is requesting donations of new unopened bags of candy for this year’s Trunk or Treat.🍫🍬

🍭 Each grade level will compete to collect the most pounds of candy. Students may also donate money in place of candy ($5 = 1 pound, $10 = 2 pounds, etc.). All money should be turned in to Ms. Amy. Updates will be shared in the announcements to keep the friendly competition alive!

🍕 The winning grade level will enjoy a pizza party on October 30th, plus bragging rights and a special shoutout on the announcements! Let’s see which Candy Monster has the biggest appetite—may the best grade level win! 💛🖤❤️

📚 Don’t miss the fun! Our Book Character Parade is happening Thursday, October 29th! 🎃 Students are invited to wear school-appropriate costumes inspired by their favorite storybook characters. ✨ Parents/Guardians are welcome to gather along the parade route to see their students shine. ✨ The parade will kick off at 9:00 AM. 🎉 Please note: Costumes must relate to a book character. The District Multimedia Fair is coming, and we want to see what our creative Roadrunners can dream up! Students have the opportunity to turn their ideas into amazing digital projects and share their creativity with others.

🌟 Kindergarten–5th Grade: May choose from 8 project categories.
Students can enter in the following categories:

The Home Access Center is a portal provided to CCISD families to get student information online.

💻 Summit K12 is a digital learning platform that students can access through their RapidIdentity account. The program provides engaging lessons and practice in: 📖 Reading, 🎧 Listening, 🗣️ Speaking, and ✏️ Writing. 📚✨ Gifted & Talented (GT) Testing Information! ✨📚
The GT application for students in Grades 1–11 will be available online September 1–November 30. Families interested in having their child considered for GT testing can complete the application here: https://www.ccisd.us/o/ccisd/page/testing-application
🍎 Kindergarten families: All Kindergarten students will be tested October 19–30.

Texas Education code 37.222 requires school districts to provide information on safe firearm storage to the parent or guardian of each student.

We are thrilled that Smith Elementary will be offering childcare for CCISD employees!

If you need childcare for a child between 6 weeks and 3 years old (turning 3 after September 1st), please complete the application and select your preferred location.
