Hawk FLY-er
Week of: March 23, 2026
Note from the Principal
This week we are celebrating our Camarillo Academic Olympics Team! "Operation Win" made it to the final round this week, placing 6th out of 12 Camarillo Teams. We are so proud of you! Congratulations to Dean Cox, Elise Cox, Ethan Green, Uche Ndukwe and Lucas Molina! Thank you to our coaches Sarah Covault and Megan Mesher-Cox!
On Friday, Tierra Linda was presented with the Community Impact Partnership Award from YAC. We have enjoyed our collaboration the past two years, and love how they inspire our students in fitness and sportsmanship! Thank you to our PTA and to all the families that participate in fundraising to make this program possible. A special shout out to our former PTA President, Bonnie Sides, for your vision in building a strong and engaging PE program for our students!
We are continuing to need your support in front of school, especially at dismissal. Please be sure your child is not running around. The area in front of the MPR and the grass areas at the front of the pickup line or by Paseo del Campo are particularly tempting for students to run and play on. Remember, when you model your respect for our school rules when you are with them, they are more likely to respect our staff when we enforce them during the day. Please help keep our campus safe and model how we can respect each other as a school community.

The Character Trait of the month is Integrity. Integrity ties so nicely into our Hawk Pledge, striving for your personal best, even when nobody is looking. Some may know the phrase, "do what is right, because it is the right thing to do". For many children, they have not yet developed this intrinsic motivation, however you can encourage integrity by praising it when you see it in others and your child, or even by calling it out by name when you are modeling it for them. When we all act with integrity, we are able to build a trusting community for our children and each other.

In compliance with California Health Youth Act (California Education Code (CEC) 51930- 51939) the District provides FLASH instruction to students in grades 4-8.
Letters will be sent home next week outlining the materials covered at each grade level, along with providing families with dates and time to preview the district’s curriculum.
Included in the letter is also an opt out option for families who do not wish for their children to participate.
At Tierra Linda, we will be teaching this curriculum on March 24th and 25th.

Standing Reminders
We Love Volunteers!
We are always looking for people who have time to help in the classrooms, on campus or at PTA events! Please pass this along to all family members!
To volunteer on campus, please complete the following steps:
- Review the PVSD Volunteer Handbook
- Print, review, and sign the Handbook Receipt and Acknowledgement, the Volunteer Agreement Form and the Volunteer Application Form.
- Return completed forms to the school site(s) where you will be volunteering, including a copy of your current photo ID. If you are a Supervised Volunteer, you will be approved by the site administrator and notified by the school site when you can begin volunteering.
Thank you for being an active part of our school community!
Community Reminders
Here are a few reminders to help drop off and dismissal go smoothly and safely:
- Please remember that dogs are not allowed on campus (this includes out front during drop off and dismissal). We love that we are a neighborhood school, and so many families walk to campus. We ask that you not come onto campus if you are walking with your pet.
- Thank you for parking in the parking lot and not along the white curb. We know that especially when dropping off and picking up from childcare, it is so tempting to do so and we appreciate that everyone is complying with this request.
- Remember to always demonstrate patience and kindness with our community members. We have little eyes watching us and learning from how we react and interact.

Free Breakfast and Lunch
This year, all students will continue receive free breakfast (during recess time) and lunch, if they choose to. We encourage families to take advantage of this opportunity.
You can find the menu for lunches here:
Parking Lot
We know that the parking lot can feel challenging, but we want to assure you that we typically clear the line in less than 6-7 minutes each day!
You may occasionally encounter drivers that are not as familiar with navigating our parking lot. Let's always remember to assume best intentions, and most importantly that we are teaching young people how to behave with our words and actions.
For those of you wanting to park and walk your child up, we highly encourage parking on the neighboring streets and walking onto campus. If you live close enough, consider walking or riding!
If you are dropping off a child in childcare, please park in a space and leave the white curb in front of childcare open for parents wanting to drive through and drop off. This is not a parking zone.
In the afternoon, we ask that all vehicles park and walk to check their child out from childcare, please do not exit your vehicle if you are in the pick up lane.
Thank you for being models of kindness and community for our children!
