Winding Down the Fall Semester

12/14/25

A Message from Dr. Delgado:

Wildcat Families,

We had a wonderful turnout for our first dance of the year—our Winter Dance! Our students had a great time dancing, laughing, and enjoying each other’s company. Thank you to everyone who helped make the event such a positive experience for our Wildcats.

As we head into this final week before winter break, we have several important events and celebrations on the horizon. Beginning tomorrow, students will begin their 2nd Nine Weeks Exams. All students will take exams in English and math, and our 8th graders will also complete exams in science and social studies. These assessments help us ensure students are on track for success on the STAAR in the spring, and we will use these results to plan focused January interventions. Teachers will be taking grades on these exams, so we encourage every student to do their very best.

We also have several exciting student events this week:

  • Beginning Band Winter Concert – Monday at 6:00 p.m. in the WVMS cafeteria

  • Kickstart Belt Ceremony – Tuesday at 4:00 p.m. in the Gym

  • Basketball Games vs. Pflugerville Middle School – Wednesday and Thursday

And on Friday, we will kick off winter break with our Wildcat Holiday Hustle, a fun rotation of festive activities that students will enjoy before our early release at 12:45 p.m.. Our winter break officially begins Friday at 12:45 p.m., and students will return on January 6th to launch an exciting new spring semester.

We wish all of our Wildcat families a joyful, restful, and love-filled holiday season. May this break bring you special memories and time well spent with those you cherish most.

We can’t wait to welcome our students back on January 6th!

Warmly,

Dr. Emily R. Delgado
Principal, Westview Middle School

At Westview Middle School, we believe in celebrating the positive choices our students make every day. We are excited to announce the launch of our new PBIS (Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports) Points System, which will begin this Tuesday!

Our Wildcats have been doing a fantastic job earning PBIS points this semester! Keep up the great work—those points add up quickly, and students are free to use them however they choose. This week, students may use their PBIS points to purchase game tickets and Winter Dance tickets, in addition to all the regular items available through our Wildcat Marketplace.

To help everyone stay informed, I will link the Wildcat PBIS Points Matrix, which reminds students exactly how points are earned, as well as our Marketplace Item List, showing everything students can purchase with their points.

Keep demonstrating those Wildcat expectations and earning points—your choices pay off!

Course Selection & Choice Sheets: Important Information for All Families

It is already time to begin planning for next year’s courses, and we are excited to guide all of our Wildcats through this process!

⭐ 8th Grade Course Selection & High School Transition

Our 8th grade students will kick off the course selection season with the 8th Grade Invasion on January 22nd. During the school day, students will participate in the Pfuture Pfreshman Pfair at Connally High School, where they will be introduced to the wide range of programs, pathways, and opportunities available to them in high school.

That evening, families are invited to Connally HS for a special Family Night, during which you can:

  • Learn about high school programs, academies, and elective options

  • Meet CHS staff and counselors

  • Tour the campus and facilities

  • Attend the Course Fair, a great opportunity to explore courses, clubs, and organizations for next year

All 8th grade students will complete their 2025–2026 course selections in SchooLinks, where they will also formalize their Personal Graduation Plans (PGPs). This planning ensures that students select courses aligned to their academic goals, endorsements, and postsecondary interests.

🗓️ Key Dates for 8th Grade Families

  • January 22: 8th Grade Invasion + Pfuture Pfreshman Pfair (daytime) & CHS Family Night

  • January 23 – February 6: Two-Week Course Selection Window in SchooLinks

    • All course selections must be submitted in SchooLinks by February 6

  • By February 27: Students & parents must review and confirm their Personal Graduation Plans (PGP) in SchooLinks

To ensure smooth communication, please verify that your email address is correct and up to date. If you need to make changes, contact our registrar, Ms. Hilchey, at (512) 594-2237 or Stephanie.Hilchey@Pfisd.net.

Choice Sheets for 6th & 7th Grade Students

Our 6th and 7th grade Wildcats will complete paper choice sheets in February. These must be fully completed and turned in before March 6th. Counselors will visit classrooms to guide students through their options and answer questions.

Incoming 6th Graders (Current 5th Graders)

We look forward to welcoming our future Wildcats!
To support a smooth transition to middle school:

  • February 6: 5th Grade Campus Visits to WVMS

  • February 10: 5th Grade Family Night at WVMS

Families will learn about course offerings, electives, and the middle school experience.

Parent Action Required: New Consent Forms for Student Health & Counseling Services

Texas Senate Bill 12, passed by the 89th Legislature and signed into law in June 2025, now requires parents to provide written consent for students to receive health and counseling services in schools.

This law mandates:

  • Annual consent forms for routine health, social, and mental wellness services.

  • Clarification on when additional consent or opt-out is required for other health-related services.

👉 Important: At this time, all consent forms must be completed online in Skyward. On Friday, all parents should have received both an email and a text with directions for completing this process.

Please note:

  • Students will not be able to see the school counselor or nurse without this consent in place.

  • It is imperative that all parents complete this form online as quickly as possible so that students do not experience an interruption in receiving care.

We also recognize that this process may be easier for some families than others. To support you, we will be offering:

Staff will be available to help families complete these forms onsite so that every student has access to the health and counseling services they need.

Thank you for your partnership in making sure our Wildcats are cared for both academically and personally.

📱 Cell Phone Reminder

At Westview Middle School, our goal is to maintain a focused, respectful, and distraction-free learning environment for all students. As a reminder, cell phones are not allowed to be seen or used during the school day. This includes hallways, classrooms, and common areas.

To support consistency across the district, we will be following the PfISD Cell Phone Consequence Ladder for any violations:

OffenseConsequence

1st OffenseDevice confiscated — must be picked up by a parent or guardian.

2nd OffenseDevice confiscated and lunch detention assigned (documented in Skyward).

3rd OffenseDevice confiscated, ½ day of ISS, and a parent meeting required.

Chronic IssuesMay result in a full day of ISS, a behavior plan, or a temporary ban on bringing the device to school.

We appreciate your partnership in reinforcing this expectation at home. When students are free from distractions, they can better focus, engage, and succeed in their learning.

💜 Go Wildcats — focused and ready to learn!

New Transportation Badge System

Beginning this month, the PfISD Transportation Department will introduce a new Transportation Badge System for students who ride the school bus. This system is designed to make transportation even safer and more efficient for our Wildcats.

Students who ride the bus will receive a new ID badge from the transportation department. They will simply scan their badge when getting on and off the bus, allowing district staff to ensure students are always on the correct bus and helping families stay informed. This system helps prevent mix-ups and gives everyone greater peace of mind—nothing more, and nothing to worry about.

These new badges are multi-purpose, too! Students will be able to:

  • Access breakfast and lunch in the cafeteria

  • Check out books in the library

  • Wear the badge daily as part of our regular school ID expectations

If your child does not ride the bus, they will continue using their current school badge, and no changes are needed.

We appreciate your partnership as we roll out this helpful system that supports student safety and smooth daily routines for all.

Westview MS 2025 Winter Dance Westview MS 2025 Winter Dance

2025 Wildcat Winter Dance Recap

Our 2025 Wildcat Winter Dance was an incredible success! Students danced the night away, enjoying music, pizza, laughter, and plenty of memorable moments with their friends. It was wonderful to see so many Wildcats having fun, celebrating the season, and building positive connections with one another.

We want to extend a big thank-you to all of our staff and volunteers who helped chaperone the event and make it such an enjoyable evening for our students. As a quick reminder for future events, please be sure to pick up your child at the end of the dance or before. We did have a few students remaining past 6:15 p.m., and our chaperones—after a long, fun-filled evening—are eager to head home once the event concludes.

Thank you for helping us keep our events safe, smooth, and enjoyable for everyone. We can’t wait for our next Wildcat celebration!

We love seeing our Wildcat families join their students for lunch! Families are always welcome to bring outside food and enjoy lunch with their child at our picnic tables. These moments mean so much to our students, and we truly enjoy having our families here on campus.

If you would like to have lunch with your child, simply stop by the front office when you arrive. Our staff will call your student out of the cafeteria, and you can briefly sign them out and back in once lunch is finished. It’s a simple process, and a wonderful way to stay connected with your child during the school day.

We hope to see you at lunch soon!

Community Spotlight: Trompo Network Showcases WVMS Volleyball!

We are thrilled to highlight a truly special community partnership that has brought new energy and excitement to Westview athletics! The Robledo family, through their local initiative Trompo Network, has been producing and livestreaming our Westview Middle School volleyball games — capturing the heart, talent, and teamwork of our amazing student-athletes.

Led by Mr. and Mrs. Robledo, with support from Coach Jaimie Ochoa, Trompo Network has created high-quality, ESPN-style coverage of our volleyball matches that families across the community have loved watching and sharing. This effort began simply — with a parent’s desire to celebrate their daughter’s team — and has grown into a powerful example of community pride and partnership.

So far, Trompo Network has covered exciting matchups such as:

  • Westview vs. Kelly Lane

  • Westview vs. Bohls

  • Westview vs. Dessau

You can view these games and more highlights on the Trompo Network YouTube Channel — it truly feels like watching ESPN!

We are so grateful to the Robledo family for their time, talent, and dedication to uplifting Westview athletics, and to Coach Ochoa for leading such an inspiring program. Their collaboration beautifully reflects what makes our Wildcat community so special — teamwork, pride, and a shared commitment to our students’ success both on and off the court.

We invite all families to take a moment to check out the highlight reels and cheer on our Wildcats — you’ll be amazed by the energy and excitement of our volleyball program!
