Thomas W. Hamilton Elementary
February 1, 2026
We had a short and very cold week, but thankfully we had plenty to do during indoor recess thanks to the Hamilton community. K-5 staff will begin holding data meeting to discuss progress on the winter benchmark and identify any students who may need increased support. We look forward to a full week at Hamilton!
New Information
Clothes Needed for Nurse’s Office
Nurse Stephanie is in need of pants, ONLY PANTS, for the little accidents that happen during the day at an elementary school. While we encourage all students to have a spare set of clothes in their locker year round, sometimes that doesn’t work out. Please send in any gently used or new PANTS SIZE 4-10 so that we can help our community. Send in with your student with a note. THANK YOU!
Grandparents Raising Grandchildren
Weymouth Public Schools Wraparound Resource Center offers an ongoing, free, in-person support group for grandparents who are raising their grandchildren. This group continues to provide a welcoming space for caregivers to connect with others in similar situations, share experiences, and access helpful resources. The next meeting will take place on Friday, February 13, at 11:00 a.m. at the Wraparound Center, 1051 Commercial Street. For more information or to RSVP, families may contact Kelsie Capra at Kelsie.Capra@weymouthps.org or 781-337-4500 ext. 293038."

Message from Parent Council
On Friday, students went home with a Quincy Credit Union Green Light flyer program promoting financial literacy for kids. Quincy Credit Union generously contributed toward the cost of our upcoming STEM assembly, and the remaining portion will be covered through Fun Run proceeds. This is our first official sponsor supporting our kids, and the Assembly is booked for March 26th and is called Amazing Art Hero. Please consider supporting Quincy Credit Union as they continue to support our children.
Repeated Information
Outdoor Recess
With winter approaching, we will continue to go outside for recess as long as the temperature is deemed safe. Please make sure to send your child into school with appropriate gear including a coat, hat, and gloves; all labeled with your student’s name.
Extra Set of Clothes
Please have an extra set of clothes in your child’s backpack. Even our upper elementary friends! Spills and falls happen and we do not have all sizes of backup clothing here in the nurses office.

The holidays may feel far away, but many application deadlines are coming up soon. If your family is in need of gift or food assistance this holiday season, please check out the flyer linked here.
Food Resources
In preparation for the possible impact to SNAP benefits, we’d like to remind families about our Backpack Program and the Weymouth Food Pantry.
We encourage families to explore local food resources, including the Weymouth Food Pantry, which offers multiple pop-up locations throughout the community. You can view the full Food Pantry Calendar for upcoming dates and sites.
Additionally, the Weymouth Schools Backpack Program continues to provide weekend meals for students. Families interested in participating can sign up here.

Attendance Call Procedures
Please refer to our absence call procedure for when your child is not attending school.
Dismissal Procedure - Parents
We will have a very busy front door this year. If you are a parent waiting for Grades 1-5 students please be aware of your surroundings. Before students who are walkers are released, we will be boarding vans. We need a clear path for these students to get to their transportation home.
When you are exiting the area, please walk along the sidewalk to the crosswalk. We have staff stationed here to assist with you safely crossing. Entering the driveway anywhere but the crosswalk is not safe with cars, vans, and buses moving through.
Bus Dismissal Feed
Please click here each afternoon to know when each bus has left Hamilton for the day.
Textile Recycling Program
It’s not trash, it’s cash! Check out this flyer about our textile recycling program and how you can raise money for our school.
Weymouth Wednesdays
Staff and students are invited to join in on Weymouth Wednesdays at Hamilton. Dress in Weymouth gear or wear maroon and gold.
Attendance Counts
Having students at school and on time daily is a major part of having a successful school year both academically and socially emotionally. Please send your child to school every day, unless they have any of the prohibited symptoms. Let us know how we can help if attendance is a concern for your family.
Lunch & Breakfast
Students may bring their lunch from home or choose from the daily menu. Breakfast will be grab and go and lunch will have hot and cold options. All students will have access to meals at no cost.
Bus Expectations
We want to remind families that riding the bus is a privilege and that safety for all students is extremely important. We will continue to review behavior expectations and adjust individual plans as necessary so that all students are having a safe and enjoyable transportation experience.
Parent Council
A large part of what makes our school community such a great place to be is the strong Parent Council organization. This is for every Hamilton parent to get involved in, whether on a small or large scale, working to bring experiences for our students that go above and beyond general school offerings.
Please consider lending a hand to this dedicated organization.
Monthly meetings are held via Zoom. Please join us whenever it fits in your schedule. No need to even turn your camera on! Each meeting we will discuss ongoing initiatives and upcoming events.
