The Falcon Flash
Fairmont Charter Elementary School Family Newsletter
January 11 - 15, 2021
As we told our students this week during Morning Announcements, on difficult and tragic days in this country - days when unthinkable violence occurs - it's important to remember that:
"There is more GOOD than bad in this world, more LIGHT than darkness and WE can make more light - TOGETHER."
If your child is having difficulty right now, please let us know. Our staff is ready to listen and provide support.
During times of crisis, children look to the adults in their life to provide comfort and to help them make sense of what it happening in the world around them. We hope the resources below from the National Association of School Phycologists is helpful.
It can also be helpful for children to take action and "do" something during difficult times. Some may want to write letters to our elected officials in Washington, D.C. to share messages of hope and encouragement. Others may want to send a get well letter to the Capital Police Officers that were injured. We invite all of our Falcons to share what makes them part of our country by adding their own "I Am America because..." video to our FlipGrid page.
Together we can make more light. Together, we will soar.
Sincerely,
The Fairmont Faculty & Staff

Resources to Stop Hate
It is hard to make sense of violence and hatred, especially violence and hatred caused by racism - which is why it is so important to continue listening to and talking with our children about what they can do make the world a more just and better place.
Each week, we will continue sharing resources to stand up to hatred - along with resources that educate, empower, and uplift. We hope you find them helpful.
