Safety Drill Tuesday

Parents and Guardians - We want to inform you about an upcoming safety drill that is scheduled to take place Tuesday. Please be assured that this is only a practice exercise to ensure the safety and preparedness of our students and staff in the event of an emergency.

Here are a few key points to keep in mind:

1. **This is a Drill:** As mentioned, this is only a practice drill. There is no real emergency. Our primary goal is to ensure that our school community is well-prepared in case of any unforeseen circumstances.

2. **Safety and Preparedness:** These drills help us assess and improve our readiness to respond to various situations. It is an essential part of maintaining a safe environment for all students and staff.

3. **Student Cooperation:** Please reassure your child that this is a standard procedure and not a cause for alarm. We have explained the purpose of the drill to our students to minimize any anxiety. Remember: Locks, Lights, Out-of-Site

4. **Emergency Contact:** In the event of a real emergency, we will promptly notify parents and provide information through our usual communication channels. Please make sure after the drill is concluded, your contact information with the school is up to date.

We appreciate your cooperation and understanding as we conduct this important safety drill. If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact the school office or your child's teacher.

Cell Tower Open Forum

As many of you are aware, a cell tower is currently being installed between the McNair and Vandergriff buildings on the northeast side of the McNair playground. This project stems from a Master Agreement between the school district and Smith Communications that was established in 2014 and the subsequent approval of this project in the summer of 2023. With the actual installation in progress, some have expressed concern about a cell tower being located on school property. Smith Communications has graciously agreed to hold a parent forum on Wednesday, Nov. 5th at 6:00 pm. The forum will take place in the cafeteria at McNair Middle School. Representatives from Smith Communications, the district administration, and a third party Radio Frequency (RF) Specialist will all be present to answer questions regarding the project. If this is of interest to you, please make plans to attend.

Lacrosse

Our PE Department has partnered with Ozark Mountain Lacrosse (OZMO) again to do a free lacrosse clinic here at McNair. It will be Monday, Nov. 17th from 3- 4:15pm in the McNair Gym. Coach Easley put together a Sign-up Genius form for parents to sign up their child:

Pod Challenge Request

Families - We need empty toilet paper rolls for our December pod challenge. Please send them to Mrs. Huneycutt's room.

The family engagement team is working on a Veterans Day slideshow to present during the Veterans Day Assembly on November 14th. This is optional for faculty and student families to participate. If you choose to participate you can fill out this FORM to give us information about the veteran. Please submit by November 1st.

Veterans Day Assembly (Nov. 14th):

*5th Grade Veteran’s Day Assembly will be in the morning from 7:48-8:30 a.m.

*6th Grade’s assembly will be in the afternoon from 2:04-2:45 p.m.
