Pedro A. Calma

Pedro is a cheerful and imaginative student with a unique sense of humor, often describing himself as hungry, sleepy, anxious, and even jokingly scared of taxes. He enjoys creative and intellectually challenging activities such as remaking the Napoleonic Wars with LEGO, solving Rubik’s Cubes, and drawing detailed flags and maps. One of Pedro’s short-term goals is to achieve a Rubik’s Cube record time between 10 and 20 seconds, showing his dedication and persistence. Looking ahead, his long-term goal is to become good at understanding taxes within the next six to seven years, demonstrating his forward thinking and responsibility. Although he is not currently reading a book, Pedro spends a lot of time learning about history on his own. History is his favorite subject because he loves exploring how countries developed, formed empires, and especially studying the Napoleonic Wars. Pedro is inspired by Mr. Huf, who has encouraged his passion for history and inspired him to want to teach others about the subject as well

Yenialyz Enid Ortiz Gonzalez

Yenialyz is an artistic, honest, and trustworthy student who brings creativity and thoughtfulness into everything she does. She enjoys drawing, playing video games with her 10-year-old brother, and especially creating her own stories with original characters, which highlights her strong imagination and love for storytelling. One of Yenialyz’s short-term goals is to improve her school attendance throughout the month, showing her commitment to growth and responsibility. Her long-term goals include earning all A’s and maintaining them for an entire marking period, as well as participating more often in class. She is currently reading The Field Guide by Holly Black and Tony DiTerlizzi, the first book in The Spiderwick Chronicles. Her favorite subject is History/Social Studies because she finds the past fascinating and enjoys learning how people lived before modern technology, transportation, education, and communication. As a student who loves writing stories inspired by real events and people, history helps deepen her understanding of how society has evolved over time. Yenialyz is inspired by many of her teachers, but Mrs. DaSilva stands out the most due to her passion for ELA, patience, and dedication to never giving up on her students, even during challenging moments.
