PROJECT GRADUATION 2026
Parents, guardians, and adults responsible for an MUHS Senior: we need you! Every year Project Graduation provides an entire evening’s worth of activities to celebrate the senior class. It’s a fun-filled substance free night where the class can get together one last time before they head off into the world. But it can’t happen without your help. We need volunteers. The process of approving volunteers takes some time. If you think you want to volunteer, be sure to sign up on the following form, follow the instructions, and get the process started for the background check. Sarah Johnstone will handle questions about the volunteer approval process. Any questions specifically about Project Graduation should be directed to George Rooney, Project Graduation Coordinator.
Opportunities for Students
UK Trip--April 2027
If your rising 10th, 11th or 12th grader would like to travel abroad next spring break, contact Cathy Stoddert (cstoddert@acsdvt.org), Lang. & Lit. teacher, for the details. We will tour with ACIS educational travel company to England and Scotland--and the more, the merrier!
School Counseling Updates
Local Scholarship Updates and Information
Each year, the greater Middlebury community provides our seniors with generous financial support through numerous scholarship opportunities and awards. In order to be eligible, students must complete and submit the MUHS Local Scholarship Application. Last week, each senior received a paper copy of the application in a presentation to senior Advisories. In addition, an electronic, fillable PDF version of the application has been emailed directly to all seniors and their parents/ guardians.
Seniors who are planning to pursue a post-secondary college degree (2 or 4 year) or vocational training program are strongly encouraged to apply! Applications are due in the School Counseling office by Thursday, April 30th. There will be two drop-in sessions where seniors can get help with completing the application on Tuesday, 4/14 and Friday, 4/17 during Flex.
Students should also frequently view the announcements for new scholarship opportunities, as well as visit the School Counseling web page under the Financial Aid/Scholarships tab for an updated list of scholarship opportunities. Please see your school counselor for more information, support, or questions about the scholarship application process!
Field Trip To Castleton for VSAC”s College and Career Pathways
This week we took 31 sophomores and juniors to College & Career Pathways and the Rutland Area Guidance Counselors' College Fair. PowerPoints, handouts, and other resources from the workshops are available online at vsac.org/ccp if you or your students would like to reference them. This page also includes workshop recordings from our event at UVM last month, and links to college and career planning videos with guided reflection questions that can be used with students for further exploration around event topics. The day gave students a wonderful opportunity to spend time on a college campus and gain valuable resources as they plan for their future.
Managing Education and Training Costs: Virtual Presentation
On Thursday, April 9th, VSAC Outreach Counselor, Kate Rowland hosted a virtual Managing Education and Training Costs presentation. This presentation provided an overview of how families pay for education and training, the different types of financial aid, as well as the application process and timelines. The full video will be shared next week, though the slideshow can be accessed here!
